The lens is entirely manual. It is hard to get focus right, and most of the time, I just couldn't get the picture I want, but I still recommend it. I got it because I love taking pictures of wild birds, and they do not let me approach. The focus is hard to get, and the picture quality is not good (I recommend adjusting your light meter a little darker, -1 or -2, than precisely in the middle,0). The lens gets bleached when adjusted in the proper light meter. So taking a darker picture, you can get more information to correct it on photoshop or lightroom. For all the images I got, I had to correct the colour (vibration) in photoshop or lightroom. I am fully aware that a good lens with this configuration would cost me at least a thousand dollars, so let's be realistic here that it does a great job for the price. You have to learn how to focus manually. All these pictures were taken with the lens and without a tripod. I lean against something to give me stability and also hold my breath. It would help if you also used your ISO to get faster-shot speed. It is working well for me, and being honest. I am getting better and better at manually focusing the pictures now. I strongly recommend it for those who want to have some fun and practice manually focusing. Observation: The lens already comes with tripod support in the middle, so you do not need to worry about buying a ring to fit it on the tripod. The zoom is crazily far, and you can get nice shots.
