Temperamental - not as expected for a Sony

At first, everything was working as it should. Then we started getting a humming sound with some DVD / Bluray. Then occasionally the machine vibrated. We looked up troubleshooting for this model online and used some of the suggestions. This works sometimes and yet the humming persists on an intermittent basis. We debated returning the player and have not done so to date although we did purchase the extended warranty.
