- Reviewed in Canada on July 28, 2021My previous adapter was a no-name 6-in-1 which actually did all right but was aging and probably overmatched for current needs. It would get pretty hot with multiple items (2nd monitor, ethernet, LED ring light), and it may have glitched when I had a video camera and external mic also attached.
The Plugable 7-in-1 arrived yesterday, and I am already impressed. It looks attractive and /feels/ well-made -- a definite step up in build quality. It's reassuring that it comes with a 2-year warranty.
I plugged it in immediately, and so far it runs noticeably cooler. Still haven't had a chance to load it with the mic and camera, which are in my office rather than at home. But I'm optimistic.
This adapter has one extra USB 3.0 port (compared to my older one), and that port feels like a noticeable benefit. When buying this kind of adapter, it's easy to feel like "2 or 3 USB ports -- it's all the same," but it's actually 50% more ports, and as you tell from my description, I have plenty of items to plug in.
I'll write an update if it is appropriate, but for now, I'm very pleased with this product. Would definitely buy another -- and may, for other computers in our office.
