- Reviewed in Canada on June 8, 2025We had an original Napoleon charcoal pan insert ages ago which we have not been able to find recently, so were very pleased to find this on 麻豆区.
It鈥檚 big and heavy - designed to take up 鈪 - 陆 of your gas grill depending on the model. Double check your measurements as you want this resting on the two ledges that the flavorizer bars rest on, and not bear weight on top of the gas tubes. I don鈥檛 know how well the coating will stand up to use but am prepared to season the cast iron as I have my irons pans.
It provides a shallow (single layer) charcoal pan that can be easily lit using the gas system, then allowed to settle in for a duel-fuel BBQ set up. A potential negative is that it is heavy and needs extra cleaning effort, else will rust. The high heat is normally good to vaporize grease and oils but the pan does need occasionally cleaning to ensure any remnants don鈥檛 drip onto the gas tubes and block and/or corrode them. The vent holes are also larger than the original this item replaces - so easier to light the charcoal but also easier for spent fuel and ease to spill into the rest of the BBQ - making cleaning a mess.
That said, this is easily recommended and worth the effort to have a single BBQ with the best blend of fast n鈥 easy gas with the flavour and consistency of charcoal. The included smoker tray is great for soaking your favourite wood chips in but note that water or a lack of maintenance will result in rust. The lid does not fit nearly as well as the OEM Napoleon unit but you only need to cover the smoker section before replacing the original grills.
Overall its a price-competitive alternative to the OEM items and makes for a great BBQ accessory.
