  Material on surface is soft to touch, spreads out the force/weight of your headphones over approximately 2 inches and is also a tiny bit flexible - which was important for me because my headphones have memory foam sitting on this hanger for most of the day. My previous hanging solution was too narrow and would easily have damaged the foam in my headphones by applying too much force to a single location.
  
  I adhered the hanger directly to my PC case - perfect location.
