Somehow missed this movie when it was first released.
Like most people at the time, never heard much about it. Curiosity got the best of me. Great discovery!
First and foremost, discovered that this director's cut version is the one to watch. Must be terrific to make difficult compromises just to get your movie into theatres and then, decades later, be able to make the changes needed to make the movie the way you wanted it to be. Australian director/writer Alex Proyas got that opportunity.
Second, blu ray likely makes this movie an even better viewing experience than any DVD could make it.
Third: the supplements. Wow. Extensive interview material with Proyas, stars Sewell and O'Brien, various crew members and others, most notably, the late Roger Ebert. Absolutely fascinating takes on everything from art direction inspirations and even the choice of character names.
