  A short book that appropriately required a subjectively long couple weeks to read, as it frequently earned pauses when I'd have to put it down for the rest of a day to absorb the trauma and existential turmoil before going on. Hard sci-fi at its shellshocked, mind-expanding best, with style and insight well ahead of its time.
