- Reviewed in Canada on January 25, 2020I’ve owned this machine for just over a month new. Used it 1-4x a day, every day since it arrived. I can’t speak for longevity, but there are other reviews here talking about it chugging on like new 3-4 years after purchase so that was encouraging to me. The pump also sounds like a quality unit. Healthy, consistent, incredibly simply laid out and functioned, no bells and whistles but it does what it does very well.
As for the actual function of the machine, it comes with everything you need except for a grinder. I already had one, so owning this machine has been plug and play.
For frothing milk, I STRONGLY recommend losing the steam wand guard. It makes the steaming process much easier, the quality of the milk when done is much better as well, and the wand guard doesn’t get nasty and gross. Cleaning the actual wand is much easier with a wet cloth after each steaming, and a more thorough clean once a week or so. I have been a professional barista and this wand works extremely well. Almost as well as a professional $17,000 machine, and much better than can be expected for a machine at this price.
Finally, the quality of espresso produced is genuinely excellent. Thick, creamy crema, on top of consistent, strong, hot, aromatic espresso. The machine is well built, fit and finish is quite good. Design is great, functional. Cleaning is easy, descaling once. every 2-3 months.
I got this machine for $129 on tax on sale. I’ve seen it priced at $159, $179 and $229.
All in all, I genuinely can’t say enough good things about this machine. The finished product of a latte or just espresso is simply excellent. I go to sleep aching for the next morning so I can make coffee. The machine has taken over my morning routine and the 4-5 minute routine of cranking out a great latte is the highlight of each morning. The machine is superbly easy to clean, and when you consider descaling to be the most “labour intensive” cleaning the machine really needs - which is a largely automatic process anyway, this machine is heaven in a small package.
Does what it says it does, and does it beautifully. Invest in this machine and enjoy it as much as I do!
