Dettol was a part of my childhood, and I remember skinned knees, cuts, and scrapes being dabbed clean with it. I smelled it years ago in a drugstore, it took me right back but I couldn't figure out why.
I remembered my grandparents used to clean their bathroom with it-- such a comforting, clean smell. Although it is a pine scent is absolutely nothing like Pine- sol. It's got that hint of an antiseptic maybe hospital or doctor's office smell, but not at all unpleasant.
When I had a very unfortunate arm full of mosquito bites, I even wet my washcloth with water and rub down with Dettol. The itch was soon relieved. I've also put a tiny splash in very hot water and I've soaked my feet after a long day.
The large bottle is very economical --a little goes a long way for cleaning and disinfecting. I put a little splash in the washing machine when washing the dog's blankets and towels. No pine smell remained, except fresh and clean.
