  I used this product on a very lightweight & transparent wool fabric, and did have to soak it twice to achieve enough stiffness to hold a shape. It seemed to help to use my hair dryer for the last bit of the drying process, both to speed up drying and to achieve desired stiffness. Otherwise drying time for one coating took about 6-8 hours or so. My fabric was also dyed, and though the stiffener did leave faint marks or darkened spots, it was not so noticeable that it took away from the look I was trying to achieve. No strong smell either, which was great as I was using it indoors. Not sure this would work well on heavier fabrics, but i would definitely use this again for lighter fabrics.
