  I've used this to connect CD/DVD drives, 2.5 IDE, SATA, SS and 3.5 IDE hard drives. No problem with connecting and accessing those drives. Doesn't work with 3.5 SATA drives because the power cord is too short. You would need to purchase a longer power cord to connect to the drive.
