We installed these vents in some lower floor bedrooms. We were using some metal ones bought from a national hardware store chain, but the louvers were almost impossible to move. These work way better from a functionality aspect. Our teenagers can actually open and close them as needed.

the two minor critiques I have are minor, but should be mentioned.

    1. the Housing does not continue very far upward, its acutally drywall depth. this is good for flush mounting, but I had to use some aluminum tape to continue the duct to the edge of the drywall so the air flow was not diverted above the drywall when the louvers were closed. (easy fix and should be done anyhow)

    2. The screws that come with the unit have been dipped in white paint. This is annoying because the Phillips head does not sit properly for screwing them in. You can use a small socket, but while screwing into the wood above the drywall, one of the heads sheared off. that meant I had to use pliers to remove the remainder of the screw and use stainless steel screws as a replacement. Great that they are white, but not good if you can't screw them in without stripping them. So 4 of the 5 we installed used the provided screws, and one has stainless screws.

But to be clear, we will order some more. They have really REALLY good louver movement, so switching from winter to summer is a snap.
