The kit is a pleasant unboxing experience (nice tidbits of information throughout and colorful for a nice gift). The DNA collection process is super simple.. spit in the collection tube up to the clearly marked "fill to" line. The cap is geniously designed to release a stabilizing fluid into your sample as you close it. Shake. Set up your online 23 and Me account (can be managed EASILY by any Millenial) and input the identity information on your sample vial. Put your sample into the pre-posted box provided and drop off to Canada Post!
Instead of having to sign in to your online account constantly to see the status of your results, you get emailed with every update. I expected to get one email when the results were ready, but I got several (updates with regards to shipping, receiving package, extraction of DNA, genotyping, etc). It took only about 2 weeks to get my results.
So much fun!! The results were soo accurate (based on what I know about my ancestry). The health feature of this test was certainly an interesting read, and a great way to be aware of your genetic predispositions.
I can't wait to gift this to my family members!!
