The most important thing about a device that plays music is the sound quality. I bought this for a friend and I have a Sony CD player myself. I put in a CD and noticed the bass notes were distorted, even at a low volume, and even if I didn't press the bass boost button. I put the CD in my Sony player, played the same song, using the same headphones, and the sound is crystal clear with no distortion. I tried this with several different songs and each time, the GPX player had a tinny, distorted sound. As the same song sound perfect on my Sony player, this proves it's not my headphones as I used the same headphones for both players to do the comparison. Also, the headphone jack input is loose so when you push in the jack, it's not balanced, sounding louder in one ear. It balanced after I wiggled it, pulling it out slightly.
There is no display for the radio so you have no idea what station you're on and when you shut it off and then turn it back on, it isn't at the station you had it on when you shut it off.
The spinning disc is quite noisy and ruins the experience of listening to music at a low volume or that is quiet music like piano or guitar solo.
It's cheaply made. The lid is loose so when you press the buttons on the top, it moves up and down. The battery compartment cover is loose. I got an adapter to use with it so I can't comment on how much it uses up batteries.
