- Reviewed in Canada on June 5, 2025I recently installed the Meross MTS200 Smart Thermostat, and overall, it鈥檚 a solid addition to a smart home鈥攂ut there are a couple of things you really need to know before setup.
鈿狅笍 CRUCIAL SETUP TIP:
If you鈥檙e connecting it to Apple HomeKit or the Meross App, make sure your phone or tablet is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Not dual-band. Not 5GHz. Just plain 2.4GHz.
I made the mistake of being on 5GHz鈥攖wice鈥攁nd had to fully reset the thermostat each time to get it to pair. That part was definitely frustrating.
鉁 Things I Love:
鈥 The large, clear digits on the display are super easy to see, even in bright daylight.
鈥 The screen isn鈥檛 overly bright at night鈥攑erfect for bedroom installs where you don鈥檛 want a glowing rectangle in your face while trying to sleep.
鈥 Once connected properly, the app and HomeKit control work great.
鉂 One Major Con:
After powering on the AC, the thermostat oddly defaulted to HEATING mode instead of OFF or a neutral temperature like 20掳C. The room got way too warm before I noticed. So just be aware and ready to double-check the mode right after setup.
