This is the Fermenting for Dummies version of fermentation lids. It couldn鈥檛 be easier or more convenient! We have made three batches of Sauerkraut using these lids. Haven鈥檛 had to use the pump yet. The lids do an awesome job of keeping dirt, dust and bad bacteria out until the natural fermentation can take over. The quality of the lids and weights make it worth the money. They are sturdy and well-made. We haven鈥檛 used the date feature, because it seems fiddly and inconvenient. The third batch is our first experience of the liquid bubbling over. We love that it has that release valve that allows the liquid and gases to escape, without allowing other things to get in. Both weights and lids are easy to clean. The recipe book included with the kit is an added bonus; although we haven鈥檛 tried any of the recipes yet. This was a great purchase for us, beginner fermenters; and we are considering purchasing another set in the future as we explore other types of fermentation. Make sure you use WIDEMOUTH jars鈥攕tandard jars are too small for the lids. We found Bernardin 1 L jars that are perfect.
