- Reviewed in Canada on March 26, 2025I have been using the original AAWireless Android Auto device for some time and never had any issues with it. Now AAWireless issued their second generation and given it's size and added features decided to update. Regardless which generation you use, both work equally well.
In all cases you use the AAWireless App to setup the device to pair it with your Android phone and also ensures the firmware is up to date via OTA when ever you connect. Once paired, plug it into the vehicle USB port and the way it goes (I used my PC to pair the device, alternately plug it into the vehicle and pair it there. Pairing only requires the device is powered up to do that step.).
AAWireless 2 settings are all managed using the App and what is a bonus with the second generation is the smart button to switch between smart phones paired with the device. The smart button also displays different colors based on the current state, like green while booting up, to blue when connected for a visual indication.
The App also allows adjusting Wi-Fi settings per country and for troubleshooting purposes.
I have used the AAWireless devices with both of my Android Pixel phones (7 Pro & now my 9 Pro) and never experienced music skips or lag, but of course if stream over airwave with a smart phone, you are at the mercy of wireless signal strength. On long trips, I'll download my playlist since out in the country, there is a lot of dead zones while travelling.
With navigation, I have used Google, Waze and Sygic, all work perfectly and accurate. Other Android Auto supported apps work extremely well also.
The first generation AAWireless device was made in China, but the AAWireless 2 was made in Europe. I love how they keep the device firmware up to date, something I find lacking with other devices. The second generation device is smaller, so fits better in the space on the console.
Out of all the similar Android Auto wrirelss devices, AAWireless has always been top rated around the globe.
