  Kevin Costner and Christian Slater better in more contemporary films. Costner plays Robin Hood, returning from the Crusades with Morgan Freeman who owes Costner his life after escaping from prison in the Crusades. Costner and Freeman return and find out that Costner's father has been killed and his retainer blinded by Sheriff's men. His home has been destroyed. He saves a young boy who has poached a deer, killing Sheriff's men. Alan Rickman portrays the Sheriff of Nottingham and steals the show with his sly dark humor. Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio also does an excellent job portraying Mariam. Costner bests John Little and becomes the leader of a band of peasants escaping from the Sheriff. Taron Egerton also does an excellent job as Robin Hood in another film and there is an older film with Sean Connery playing Robin and Audrey Hepburn as Marian who has joined the cloister. Excellent sequence with Costner and Rickman fighting it out. No real extras.
