There are many on those LCD drawing tablets but this is the first 16-inch version I have tried - most of the previous ones were between 8 and 10 inches.
The tablet is made entirely of plastic and is quite thin and light but with good overall craftsmanship and a fairly refined look. Unlike the smaller tablet, the included stylus has a nice length and diameter and feels more comfortable to use even for an adult. These drawing tablets use an LCD screen, not LED, so there is no backlight and you should not expect the contrast to be as pronounced as on the online pictures, however, it is more than good enough and any mark you mark is very clear. The colour gradient is built into the screen so the colour will always be the same for a mark made at the same position on the screen.
Making a mark does not require much force at all, and one of the best parts is that the screen is pressure-sensitive so you can vary the thickness of your stroke by pressing harder or lighter. What I liked less was that the strokes were not uniform but instead composed of an inner line surrounded by an outer border. This is most noticeable on thicker strokes. Again, if you are offering this as a toy to a young child this is not a deal-breaker but as a professional illustrator, this is the type of detail I notice right away.
Despite my few criticisms, this is still a well-made toy/tablet that will promote imagination and encourage creativity whether through drawing or writing and as such I find it to be an excellent gift for any child. At around $22, I find it to be a good value.
