  These little critters are fine but seek out local users who will share as theirs replicate first. I combined my order with some from another cultivator (curator, grower, pet-keeper???) and they are all happy and healthy. If you get into kefir, freeze some and get a group of users. Like any pet, they need daily attention but are easy to keep. However, you will need a break, take a vacation or have a disaster. If you share with others and have backup in the fridge, you wont have to rebuy. Best smoothies in the world! I always use them as liquid in my bread machine & no longer keep sourdough.
