The lens is just not that sharp wide open, nowhere near high end full frame zooms and even a far cry from cheap APS-C primes. Maybe I got a bad copy, but that doesn't apply to my next negative.
The autofocus, and specifically the focus shift while zooming, is horrendous. Shooting on an a6400 with continuous autofocus the lens autofocus decently as long as you do not touch that zoom ring. If you zoom while just autofocusing or while shooting a burst (eg. A subject walking towards you) the lens will immediately go completely out of focus and takes at least a full second before it responds and starts trying to get the focus back.
This makes the lens completely useless to me for most scenarios that I shoot personally, but fine for someone that shoots mainly still subjects. Another small negative is that the out of focus areas can get busy with things like foliage in the background.
