Just as the authors of the book plainly state; they're not writing about anything new here. What they are doing is distilling their combined and considerable leadership experience into simple (but not easy) lessons that are applicable to anyone involved in a leadership position, whether that position is part of a corporation or a family. Jocko and Leif have taken lessons learned from the most hostile classroom imaginable and put them in a format that is easy to read, practical, actionable and, perhaps most importantly, enjoyable. I am just taking my first steps in a corporate leadership role and have already applied what I've found in Extreme Ownership on more than one occasion. I'm sure I'll be coming back to this book when I run up against my next leadership challenge. Highly recommended.
