When a chance at being a bridesmaid turns into a chance at being a bride, how can she possibly refuse?

Hudson Hopper is in trouble. After doing his business partner Jude a favor by hiring Jude’s younger sister Sloane, Hudson very quickly finds out that she is a massive distraction—especially since she’s now his assistant.

Things get more complicated when Hudson volunteers Sloane to fill in as a bridesmaid for a potential client, and she agrees…with certain stipulations. She’ll be a part of the Regency wedding—corset and all—if Hudson marries her. Sloane knows the value of the trade: he needs her to get into a high-society club to help secure his business deal, and she could use a down payment to secure her childhood home in return.

It’s an instant no from Hudson at first, but when she convinces him that no one will find out, including her brother, and points out how he will benefit from the marriage too…well, Hudson might just find himself saying “I do.”

I laughed so hard.

I laughed so hard.
Hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. This is officially now my favorite Meghan Quinn book. There are so many Laugh out Loud moments. I laugh cried at work and my coworkers had to hear about every funny moment. I can't even with Sloanes nervous word vomit. Every time she opens her mouth it is epic. Then there is Hudson who is so stubborn and controlled that it drives up the tension so much. Throw in some marriage of convinces, My wife and a little possessive MINE! Ahhhhhhh. Thank goodness I had this as an ALC cause Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin hit this out of the park. The play off each other so well and his deep voice pairs so well with her flirty word vomit. Definitely my favorite book of the month.

Bridesmaid By Chance is my fourth Meghan Quinn book this year and my third in the month of April... and it gets five shiny stars!

Okay, yes, this book is hilarious, sexy as hell, and fun... but it also truly shocked me with its emotional depth!

Hudson is strong, takes charge, and is business first... but his type A personality is really his downfall! Watching his growth after Sloane comes into his life was so delightful to watch! I loved the back and forth of their relationship and that fine line between love and hate!

I haven't read too many marriage of convenience troped romances, but this one worked really well for these modern times, with a little play on the regency era!

And speaking of play - that subtle nod to Vivian's brown and polka dot dress was so well done because that moment truly had all the Pretty Womam vibes!

Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin did a phenomenal job with their audiobook narration! Just turn to chapter seven to experience how amazing Clarke is as he perfectly switched his voice between two male characters! Edwin sounded young and fun, fitting Sloane's personality perfectly!

Okay, so you see what I mean, right? This one was all the things I've come to love and expect from Quinn, yet seemed to have even more emotional depth than her other books!

ALC Review - Huge thanks to Meghan Quinn and Good Girls PR for the opportunity to receive a review copy of Bridesmaid by Chance!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 - There is something about Meghan Quinn audiobooks - the duet narration, the top tier casting and performance - that brings the delivery of these stories to the next level. I almost exclusively consume MQ in this format, so I don’t have much to compare to, but I am confident you are missing out on a big part of the experience if you don’t go the audiobook route because they never disappoint!

The story starts out pretty formulaic for a workplace + marriage of convenience setup and I was concerned I would find FMC Sloane - and her ripe young age of 22 - irritating (don’t tell her that… ‘young’ and ‘immature’ are her trigger words!). I was pleasantly surprised that this did not turn out to be the case. Instead, Sloane actually exhibits significantly more emotional maturity than MMC Hudson who is 13 years her senior.

Hudson is honestly a walking red flag who I would almost certainly hate in any other context (and honestly still kind of did at a lot of points throughout the book - he exhibits some seriously crummy selfish behaviour especially with his contradictory mixed signals). He really does fulfill the stereotypes he is accused of falling into, and while we get a bit of a look at what has brought him to that point and his desire to do better as the book progresses, he definitely still had work to do. But narrated by Jason Clarke? I couldn’t hate him! In fact, I have an embarrassing number of NSFW bookmarks because THIS MAN 😮‍💨 The spice in this book is no joke - and neither is the edging we experience as the reader when the MCs try to get creative with one another without Hudson fully giving in to his desire to cross that line with Sloane. It will have you hot and bothered (in the best way).

Plot wise, I did find the early portion of the book to be a bit eye roll worthy in terms of how the fake marriage was handled - the man is hugely wealthy but he forces her to sleep in the same bed despite indicating that he can’t stand her on multiple occasions? Nah. I feel like the ‘only one bed’ vibe would have worked better if it started in the hotel in London where it would make more sense. It didn’t really add anything prior to that in my opinion…

For me, things really took off (pun intended 🤭) starting with the flight to London. Drunk Hudson had me full-on LOLing. The etiquette-turned-kink class was another source of many giggles.

I can’t end this review without a comment about how much I loathe Sloane’s brother Jude. The man is an absolute jerk. He is too controlling of his sister(s) - like you got married, you have a life… Get out of their business! And on that note, he’s married to Hudson’s sister, yet he has an issue with Hudson being with his sister? Sir, please show yourself out.

    Where to even begin?

I think this might be my favorite Meghan Quinn book to date. Seriously this was AMAZING. I am obsessed with Hudson I love him so much😩 and Sloane?! She was AWESOME. I love how she was always unapologetically herself and went for what she wanted consequences and rejections be damned. It was such an inspiring trait and although maybe sometimes she had foot in mouth syndrome (like a lot it was hilarious), she always kept being true to her. I genuinely can’t give this book enough stars AND THE SLOW BURN OMGGGGG the sexual tension was off the charts - I was right there with Sloane yelling at Hudson just break already! It was so worth it though and I love how the story concluded💕

I received this as an ALC
    Format: Audiobook
Spice Level: Hot bathroom scene + boss/assistant tension? Yeah, I’m sweating.

This book had me laughing and panting within pages, and I’m not even mad about it. If you’re into office banter, fake marriages, etiquette class chaos, and one very horny assistant, this one’s for you.

Sloane is completely down bad for her boss Hudson, who just so happens to be her brothers best friend (because why make it simple when we can add more tension?). When she suggests marrying him, strictly for business, to help him gain access to a prestigious club, things spiral into deliciously chaotic, laugh-out-loud good time

    Things I loved:
    • The audiobook narrators were top tier — total performance vibes.
    • cerulean-blue eyes?? I’m still not over that description.
    • The drunk text autocorrect to “duck” had me howling.
    • Etiquette class 101 = pure comedy gold.

Sassy, spicy, and full of moments that made me giggle-snort, Always a Bridesmaid was a blast. Highly recommend if you need a feel-good, romcom!

This was one of the best rom coms I’ve read in years! Sometimes we say LOL but really just smirk or smile. I actually laughed a couple of times! People in the coffee shop gave me a funny look but I couldn’t help it. The dialogue is excellent and the banter between the twins and between the main characters is priceless.

It also tugged on my heartstrings several times. The depth of Hudson’s character was revealed over time and Sloan is simply hilarious. She’s a strong female lead and very relatable. It didn’t take long to be charmed by her. The secondary characters were just as fabulous, especially Stacy, Sloan’s twin.

I can’t leave out that the sex scenes were incredibly hot and detailed! (I learned some things!) They built up appropriately with a slow burn and once they got going, wow!

I would give this 5++ stars if I could! I will definitely read it again at a later date.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sloane and Hudson’s story
Reviewed in Australia on May 3, 2025

Sloane is Jude’s sister from earlier in the series, while Hudson is his business partner. He is trying to secure expansion plans in England and needs a wife to join an exclusive club where deals will be happening. Sloane is his assistant who becomes his wife-temporarily.
Only everything starts changing once they arrive in England and need to act as a married couple.
I laughed a lot through the first half of this book, but did find the second half much less funny.
Overall, this was a good story.
