Sarah J. Maas' sexy, richly imagined series continues with the journey of Feyre's fiery sister, Nesta.
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.
The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.
Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.
Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

- Reviewed in Canada on September 6, 2023Verified PurchaseThis book is one of my favorite books of all time.
The journey Nesta takes in terms of mental health is similar to my own. Watching her find herself through movement, meditation, and trauma bonding with new friends feels like I am watching my own story back … but if I was Fae with super powers.
Watching Nesta transform from reactive to being able to accept love again is beyond special and honestly important in our escapist books. SO many people hate Nesta and don't love this book but I think that is the point. Nesta is a great example of someone who experiences trauma and becomes very destructive through it. We need more characters like Nesta. If you are someone who hates her maybe get a little introspective and figure out WHY because honestly this book is a therapy session in itself.
Cassian also has to be one of my favorite men who are written by a woman. He is kind and understanding. Cassian gives Nesta what she needs to find herself. He doesn't do it for her which is an element I love about this story. He is a strong support and the only person that holds her up when things are at their worst. I am lucky enough to have a couple of Cassian's in my life and his character makes me so emotional. I love him.
Nesta finding her way alongside two other strong female characters is also a mood. She learns how to love her family again but then creates a family of her own and in turn they all heal each other. I just love the story of women uplifting other women to reach their best versions of themselves. Watching them train and become more confident is so much fun and had me in tears by the end.
Honestly I have read this multiple times now and its exactly what kind of escapism I have needed to get through some difficult times. I cry every single time in that last couple hundred pages because I am so proud of these characters. I love them so much and its hard to fathom that they are just some in on paper. To me they are real.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 6, 2023Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseDon’t take this the wrong way, but I genuinely had no interest in Nesta’s story at first. I fell in love with Velaris. With Rhysand and Mor and Feyre. I wanted to know more about them and their lives and felt like Rhys and Feyre were just beginning and now I had to read Nesta’s story?
I am so glad I did.
Nesta is the definition of redemption arc. Her healing journey despite this being a fantasy novel is INCREDIBLY REAL. She grows an incredible amount- her character is basically unrecognizable by the end of this book in the best way. I think she is an incredible character. Not to mention this book has the best example of female friendship. Gwyn and Emerie are two incredible women who only offer strength to those around them, they are just as inspiring as Nesta and Feyre and Mor.
Cassian is a simp for his girl. He’s not “looks like he’ll kill you- is a cinnamon roll” vibes but he can still definitely kill you. I loved his moments and craved more from him, felt terrible for him, and laughed with him.
The only issue I have with this book is that it is randomly in the third person? Why did you do that SJM?

- Reviewed in Canada on January 30, 2025Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseI can’t put into words how great this book was! I absolutely loved this book! I loved Nesta’s journey. The author has a way of making you feel that you are drawn into that brilliant world following along with Nesta and feeling so many emotions as the story goes on. I have to admit Nesta really wasn’t my favourite character in the previous books but by the end of this story I have grown to really like her.
I really recommend reading this book, especially if you are a big fan of Sarah J. Maas like I am!
- Reviewed in Canada on March 4, 2025Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseI enjoyed every page, I devoured this book. So deep. I absolutely loved it. So many themes, from, forgiveness hope, endurance, sex, fear, sisterhood and love. I love and identify with Nesta so much.. cried with so many parts. I will read it again. Everything for you Cassian haha
- Reviewed in Canada on May 16, 2024Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseOh my gosh this book was easily my favourite of the entire series. I seriously couldn’t put it down. I LOVED every single part of this book and felt it all flowed seamlessly.
Nesta’s journey was heartfelt and inspiring. I felt such a deep connection to her as she worked through her trauma and felt much of her journey of healing matched my own.
Her relationship with Cassian unfolded in such a beautiful way and is quite possibly my favourite of all the couples mentioned in the series. The spicy scenes were spicing let me tell you lol!
I wish I could give this book 10 stars, 100 stars, okay ALL the stars!!! I would be perfectly content if all future books of the series were written with Nesta as the FMC. I didn’t even mind the third person narrative (which I hated after reading book 4 but maybe it’s because it switched so much between first and third person depending on which character the chapter belonged too).
Anyway. Please read this book. You won’t be disappointed!

Verified PurchaseI was a bit hesitant to start A Court of Silver Flames even though I love anything Sarah writes. My foremost reason for this was my dislike for Nesta. I did struggle for the first half of the book with Nesta's behavior, but progressing further in the book I began to understand why Nesta behaves the way she does and near the end I actually started liking her to my own surprise. I'm also so happy I still got to read a lot about Feyre and Rhys and the other important characters. I have to say that at the end I really loved this book.
Sarah's writing was, as always, phenomenal and transfered me to another world!

5.0 out of 5 stars I can never let this one go...
Verified PurchaseReviewing any book from the esteemed ACOTAR series feels like a daunting task, especially when it comes to this astonishing, heart-rending, and utterly brilliant instalment. While I'm sure countless reviews have been penned on this tome, each perspective offers a unique insight, so here's mine.
Let's address the elephant in the room: the star rating. This book unequivocally earns five massive and brilliant stars from me. It has swiftly ascended to join the ranks of my favourites, standing shoulder to shoulder with A Court of Mist and Fury.
I'll admit, my expectations weren't sky-high for this book. The prospect of delving into the miserable and acerbic world of Nesta Archeron didn't exactly fill me with excitement. Initially, I found myself recoiling from Nesta's caustic demeanour and refusal to take accountability for her actions. In fact, I didn't want to delve into it at all, wanting to hold onto the image of Feyre and Rhysand a little bit longer. However, as Nesta's character began to evolve and unfold, my perception of her gradually softened.
Nesta's journey of growth and self-discovery is depicted through a lens of unparalleled realism. The portrayal of mental health in this narrative is nothing short of exemplary. Her healing process is anything but linear, mirroring the erratic nature of real-life struggles. The story eloquently illustrates how unhealthy coping mechanisms and self-sabotage can manifest in the face of adversity, driving home the importance of empathy and understanding.
As I delved deeper into Nesta's story and peeled back the layers of her character, I found myself relating to her character and loving her wholeheartedly. I realized that my aversion to Nesta may have stemmed from a recognition of my own shadow self within her—a revelation that has profoundly impacted me.
One of the most poignant themes of the book is the resilience of strong female characters in the face of grief and trauma. The portrayal of female camaraderie and empowerment, particularly through Nesta's relationships with Gwyn and Emerie, struck a chord with me. These bonds serve as a powerful reminder of the strength found in sisterhood.
The infusion of lots of spice, increased focus on certain characters, and incorporation of contemporary themes demonstrate Maas's responsiveness to her readership.
Now, let's talk romance. While the relationship between Nesta and Cassian may not fit the traditional romance mould, its intensity and passion are undeniable. The unabashed celebration of female sexuality and sensuality is a welcome departure from societal norms, and Nesta's unapologetic ownership of her desires is both refreshing and empowering.
That being said, I couldn't help but feel that the abundance of steamy scenes detracted somewhat from the emotional depth of the relationship. While Cassian's unwavering support undoubtedly aids in Nesta's healing, their connection occasionally feels overshadowed by physicality.
In conclusion, A Court of Silver Flames captivated me from start to finish. Its 768 pages held me rapt, and I found myself yearning for even more. This instalment is a testament to Maas's storytelling prowess, seamlessly blending steamy romance, heart-pounding action, and poignant themes of empowerment and resilience. If the next book focuses on Azriel, as I hope it does, I'll be eagerly awaiting its release. Simply put, A Court of Silver Flames delivers on every front, leaving readers craving more of this enchanting world and its captivating characters.
