Why doesn't my SoloCam S340 battery stay at 100%?

Power collected by the solar panel depends on the weather and available sunlight. If little energy is collected in a day, the battery level may go down. It can run for up to 3 months on battery and it will be charged once the weather is sunny.
Does SoloCam S340 support local AI?

Human Detection and Vehicle Detection run natively on the local AI. When connected to HomeBase 3（with firmware version V3.3.2.6 and above）, the added power allows Human Detection to be upgraded to Human Recognition.
Does SoloCam S340 support 24x7 recording?

No. Battery cameras aren't currently capable of 24/7 recording, even if connected to HomeBase 3（with firmware version V3.3.2.6 and above）.

I was a little worried about the "renewed/refurbished" status, but decided to take a risk for the price. When it arrived, I couldn't tell it wasn't "brand new"; it was packed well, no blemishes on the product, accessories, or box, and all parts were included.

I got this to monitor the backyard, but since my house faces south by southwest, getting the right amount of sun in the backyard is a bit of a challenge. So, I mounted the camera and solar panel to a custom piece of painted scrap wood, and then mounted that to the underside of an overhang.

Do yourself a favor and sync the camera to the app *before* you mount it. This is also a good time to make sure the firmware is up to date, all pan/tilt functions work correctly, and set up the app sends notifications properly.

Video quality is fine, pan and tilt is a little sluggish (especially when using the zoom) but works OK. I like the fact that the solar panel can be mounted to the camera, or located some distance away via the included ~10 foot USB cord. Storage is built-in and plenty large, but cannot be changed. It would have been nice to include a removable SD card instead so it can be replaced when it wears out, especially if there are a lot of writes due to motion triggers.

One thing I found a little odd for an outdoor camera is the recommendation in the quick start guide (page 16 - excerpt in pics) makes it a point to state the operating temperature range, which can be easily hit or exceeded in some places. I suppose it isn't totally surprising given the camera contains a battery and temperature extremes are not healthy for batteries. So, I guess it's important to shade the camera but make sure the solar panel has direct sunlight for at least a few hours.

As with almost every Eufy product setup is easy and dinner in minutes.

After setting up initially you get to fine tune the things you like. Motion detection sensitivity which seems to affect the distance at where it detects objects. The motion zones to set where you want to detect motion is pretty standard but I like that the box has multiple drag points to fine tune the zone.

On the topic of zones I’m big on neighbor privacy especially being new to the neighborhood and being on the first people with camera systems. You can set a privacy zone where the video blacks out so your neighbors can be at ease that you’re not spying on them.

The preset zones are a really neat feature, but unfortunately you need to manually select where the camera is looking and it won’t switch between presets to give you a true 360 degree viewing area. Hopefully Eufy updates that in the future.

This camera is the furthest from my last mesh node and has ZERO connectivity issues, it’s incredible and an issue I had with previous cameras.

The solar panel works great so far and has charged the camera daily without issue. With winter months coming up I’m interested to see hours it does with less light.

The price of this camera seems too good to be true for the features. The dual camera much like the doorbell is an awesome feature. The main camera covers most the area while the bottom camera keeps a zoom on closer objects, but when the main camera detects motion the zoom camera locks on to the object so you get a better view.

Tracking is dang near flawless on the camera following motion.

I plan on getting the Homebase in the future and try the multi camera tracking option around my house.

Overall my top pick for current camera systems.

I like the fact that the camera is not fixed, but swivels when it picks up a person car or animal. This way you can get fewer cameras. Set up is very easy, and the homebase system eliminates the need for a monthly fee. I added a 2 TB hard drive onto mine, and I’ve used less than 10% of it in the last five months.

I ended up returning these for the fixed 4k camera model.

The motion tracking was mediocre at best. No matter what settings you choose, the video would always start partially into the event missing the beginning. It would not keep recording the event even after setting to record for the max 120 seconds.

Because most of these cameras people will have pointed at some type of road or sidewalk, you want 24/7 recording as the entire point of a camera system is to capture an event that may not be triggered by motion or other AI. When motion is enabled, you get hundreds of micro clips and it’s impossible to sort through. This also drains the battery as in order to keep the battery charged, you can’t have it recording 24/7, have lots of motion recordings or even watch the live feed as after a couple minutes you get warnings stating the battery won’t last with watching a live feed.

The camera quality is pretty good. The 3x zoom lens doesn’t seem to be any different than a digital zoom using pinch to zoom.

It will only track if you are in direct view of the lens. If you are at the side (in frame), it will not follow you.
