I thought that I could use the trimmer in the usual horizontal way but the wire brush is SO heavy duty, it actually scratches the patio stones and produces sparks. It works well vertically holding the trimmer sideways, but now requires precision positioning over the cracks. This way is more time consuming and still runs the risk of scratching the patio stones a bit.
I tried it on the lawn edges and it has no problems with grass.
The not-so-good:
After very limited use, the twisted wires started to unravel. I will see how long it lasts but at this rate I don’t expect it to be very long. It a shame that the ends/strands weren’t welded together to prevent this.
Summary:
The wire brush is clearly made of strong sturdy metal. But between the patio stone scratching and the steel wires unraveling, I have to admit I’m a bit disappointed. But at the current $16 it’s not terribly expensive and I will use it as long as I can.
