Fornix vs. Nixit

Fornix vs. Nixit
My monthly is due in a few days, so next week I should have a full review. For now, I'll share my first impressions. I'll also be comparing it to Nixit as that's what I've already tried. Originally I tried the Diva Cup, the shape wasn't good for me. It hurt me. So I went back to tampons. Years later, I saw Nixit. It's a different shape vs the Diva Cup, so I gave it a try. What a nightmare! It suctioned to my insides and refused to come out. It's too big for me. After a lot of panicking and crying (hah 😅) I finally got it out after squatting in the shower. What a mess! I had PTSD after that lol. Again, I ditched it and went back to tampons. I have yet to find a cup/disc that fits my petite insides but, it appears I've found a winner in this Fornix disc. As you can see, it's much smaller vs Nixit. The Fornix disc literally fits inside the Nixit. If you have a large oven or very heavy flows, the Fornix may not be big enough for you. In that case, I'd suggest the Nixit. For those of us with average to small sized ovens, the Fornix is definitely a great choice. The Fornix disc is thicker overall vs Nixit. It's not as soft. I'm hoping that means that the lifespan of it will be longer. So the size is definitely a big plus for me, but! Because of what happened with my Nixit, I'm also interested in using the stem. There's a couple different ways you can pull it out, I'm hoping that will mean easy peasy removal every time. For now I highly recommend this. I'll be back to update soon!

Product arrived as shown in the advertisement and in protective packaging. Includes instruction manual, menstrual cup and travel pouch. I noticed there was quite a bit of silicone residue on the cup when opening, so it's very important to give it a good scrub before using (it washed off with no issues). The texture of the cup is a matte silicone, almost like a second skin type of feeling. The travel pouch is very nice quality, thick and easy to open or close. The instructions do explain how to use the menstrual cup, but I wish they had more diagrams showing you how, especially being a first time user. You definitely have to find your own groove using this product. I would recommend using before your period to find what works best for you and your body. It didn't feel uncomfortable inserting the cup, just alot different than using a tampon. It did take me a few tries but I got the hang of it. No discomfort while using and I practically feel nothing. I wore a pad just in case and to truely test if it's leak free and so far so good. I had no issues taking out the menstrual cup and the stem really does help. This product does have alot of benefits as stated and saves you money in the long run. You just have to be willing to do the learning curve, but I think it's totally worth it.

A good option in the cup space, especially for anyone looking for a smaller option compared to other Canadian options. This one is substantially smaller, which may or may not be good for you. However, I did it find it a bit tricky to insert, despite the smaller diameter, because of how thick and rigid the rim is; it's quite a bit more finicky than cups with smaller and thinner rims. Of course that means it does a good job of popping open, but it's important to note because even as someone who has used cups and discs for a long time, it sometimes takes me a few tries with this one.

The stem/pull is interesting. I know some don't like them, but I do find it helpful on days when things move upwards. It's also nice that it's a ring style pull instead of just a stem, because plain stems are useless in my opinion. This allows you to actually grab on. I think for shorter canals this might be too long, but the instructions do say you can trim the stem if you wish, so that is an option as well.

Overall, I would say this is a good option for someone looking for a cup, especially someone looking for a smaller diameter one, but I would still caution to expect a very rigid rim.

I’ve been using a cup for the past few years, but wanted to try a disc. Let me tell you, I am so glad that I did!

I find this is so much easier to successfully insert and you cannot feel it at all once it is in. I watched a few videos and read the instructions and I pretty much got it right the first time!

Unlike the cup, where to this day I sometimes get it wrong and experience leakage if I don’t get a proper seal, this has been leak free for me!

The little stem and loop make it easy to remove. You can do it while on the toilet and empty the contents into the toilet bowl. If you’re in a public restroom, you could clean the disc with toilet paper and reinsert it although it will be better to wash it first of course.

It is thin, easy to insert, easy to remove with no suction feeling, and you can’t feel it once it’s in!

In my opinion, overall this disc is much better than a menstrual cup and is definitely worth a try!

I have been using a saalt cup and a diva cup. I hated the diva’s protruding end and the stiffness of the cup itself. I have been using saalt most of the time now as was nice and comfortable.

This menstrual cup beats both of them. I am pro cup user and I can vouch for this. I am using a small and it’s fits me well I have given birth to one child vaginally and still small fit me well and cut. The suction is excellent and flexibility is just perfect to comfortably put it in. Also if is not too sturdy to cause pain while wearing it. I absolutely would rate this as the best cup I have used so far.
