This is alot of fun and great for kids that are old enough to get it and want to fiddle a bit. Once it's together it's a solid track and the cars can really zip around. Three loops, tight curves and a narrow stretch make racing actually fun and you can get in 15-20laps in a good race. The cars have a woven wire connectors that drags along the metal track to get power. When they work its perfect, if you have a fly-off you may need to make sure they don't touch each other or the car won't go. My kids can fix this on their own fast enough they don't even stop the race so it's not a big deal. They have also figured out that if you don't connect all the loops you have a ramp and these cars go fast enough they can get 5-6ft off the track which is a game in itself. So far we're on day five of having this setup and it's been a good out a day of play time so that a win for me!

I have this set and the one that is slightly cheaper. For the price this set is super fun and well constructed and if I were only getting one set I would go with this one first and maybe get the cheaper one later to have two of the “pet” controllers (for little kids) and expand the track.

This track differs from the cheaper one mainly in the size of the track and the loops. This model (MR-03U) has 4 loops with lights whereas the cheaper model has 2 loops and no lights. This also has a chicane rather than only a straightaway so it’s longer. The track barriers on this set are flimsy paper and don’t keep the cars from flying off.

The “pet” controller sounds like it’s meant for your dog or cat but it works well for small children as you can dial down the power to the lowest setting where the car won’t fly off the track at full throttle. You only get one of these and the normal controllers at the lowest power setting will still result in the cars flying off if you use full “pedal”.

The cars in this kit are more interesting compared to the other set. There are two Bug Attis and two R8 police cars.

The set comes with spare parts so if the plastic tab on the car gets broken you can easily swap it out. The plastic track material isn’t necessarily sturdy enough for a small child to assemble without potential breakage but overall the track is easy to put together and take apart and the box is sturdy enough for storage.

This set takes up a normal sized dining table so if space is a concern the other set might work better.

This track is a ton of fun! The cars are fast - almost too fast for the track curves - but that’s part of the fun. The cop car’s lights light up as do the rings. The track is powerful enough to run two cars on a lane and the counters are reliable. We laughed a ton. The pet pedal is great for little siblings or a pet if you can train them to press it.

I knocked off one star because it is so fragile. I had to be very careful putting it together. They don’t all slide in smoothly and they’re thin enough that they’ll snap if they go in crookedly. Once it’s all connected, it’s plenty strong and the loops are sturdy. Keep the directions in the box when it’s disassembled. You’ll need them to get it all together again. One of the brackets for the guardrails snapped the first time using it when a car hit it.

The cars have good brushes to make contact with the track and the pin is solid. The kit comes with replacement brushes and tires which is nice.

The only other thing you should know is that each car only does 2 loops. They don’t share all 4. The lights only light up when the controller is pressed so you need cars on both tracks to light up all 4 loops.

What a ride this has been! In theory, it's easy to set up because the track just snaps together in place. As long as you space out the loops correctly (spelled out in the directions clearly,) the rest makes sense and is intuitive. I love that there's the option to plug it into the wall OR use batteries. We are always running out of batteries, and I love love love the corded option. I'm not actually sure what the littler paw-shaped remote is for; there are two regular remotes as well and that's what we use. Comes with spare tires, and you'll find out quickly why! The cars somehow manage to need the tires replaced pretty often and easily. But it is a simple and quick job to replace the tires. The track locks in together pretty well, and the lights show you when there's a electrical current interruption by either lighting up incompletely or not lighting up at all. The cars have wire threading on the bottoms just like bumper cars at amusement parks have wire threading into an electrical grid on the ceiling. You do need the guard rails if you're using full speed, or else the cars WILL fly off the track. Sometimes they manage to anyway, but they stay on the track during loops remarkably well.

HOWEVER, there are constantly electrical current issues, it seems. The track will be fully snapped together, everything seems fine, but the cars just won't go. Or one track isn't working, but the other is fine. It gets VERY frustrating having to try to troubleshoot the electricity issue every 5 minutes that my son is playing with it, although he sure does love it when it's working.

Picked up this slot car set for the kids, and it’s been a hit. The cars light up, the loops flash, and the controllers are easy enough for them to figure out, especially the controller that lets the little ones race without flying off the track.

Assembly was a bit tricky, and the track pieces feel a little fragile, so we had to be careful. But once it’s set up, it’s a blast. The cars are fast, and the loops add a fun challenge.

Only downside: the cars can fly off the track at high speeds, but that’s part of the fun. Overall, a great addition for family game time. The kid will love it !
