- Reviewed in Canada on May 20, 2025Verified PurchaseI have tested the SMSL 200pro for over one month with headphones connected to a cd player and blu ray player, playing cds only and the sound is fantastic. I have not tried it yet connected to a laptop but I must assume sounds good. I tested the Bluetooth and connected easily with my cellphone but honestly sound quality was my under my expectation. Easy to use, I hope this can last some years because I want to use it for listening to cds. So far I can recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A DL100 in a smaller package, low noise floor kingpin for IEM's & headphones.
Verified PurchaseI've had the regular C200 a few times, also the DL200 and Dl100 to compare it to. It's basically the DL100 in an even smaller form factor. The improvement over the original is a more quiet noise floor with IEMs like the 16 ohm 126db sensitive Tanchjim Ola I use. The power is one gain stage like the DL100, and the Beyerdynamic DT1990 250 ohm were really sounding good at around 70 percent volume which was the loudest I felt safe going to. LDAC works great and it's got AptX too, but my Google Pixel just does LDAC.
The 4.4mm jack is silky smooth unlike some previous models which took some force to use. The size is the most noticeable thing, they slimmed it down to fit on any desk. I have a Topping G5 which weighs more if you take it on the road to plug in somewhere.
The sound is transparent, and works well as a 5 volt DAC if you have powered speakers or existing amplifier. The remote switches outputs and adjusts volume back to each you had it set for. 1.5 watts into 32 ohm is a lot of power since headphones are getting more efficient than the early days. I have a Hifiman HE6SE and keep the SMSL H400 for powering those, since that and the A70Pro I have are the only ones who can do it properly. This will easily handle the Sennheiser HD6xx, the Dan Clark stuff I have, pretty much anything except the older model planars with a sensitivity in the 80's.
Build quality is really solid, and value for money is right up there since the noise floor is so low you can use it for IEMs or headphones. I typically use a Topping L30 II for IEMs, but this is just as good for them. An optical USB cable works terrific for the lowest noise floor possible if you need long length to place it somewhere. It's also got the silent bit rate switching like the DL100, no noise like the pop on some older models. Doesn't even run warm, but most impressed by how small they got basically the DL100 which isn't big either.
If you have the original C100, the difference will be more details since the noise floor is so quiet. Will depend on your phone to see if the new protocols it supports will make a difference though. -Dunring

4.0 out of 5 stars Ability to drive high impedance headphones, excellent sound quality, transparency.
Verified PurchaseThe sound quality of this DAC is dynamic, smooth, transparent and uncolored. There was made a big improvement in the detail, and overall sound quality in music from the Bluetooth, connection from my desktop Windows computer. I am listening with high impedance headphones, Beyerdynamic Dt990, at 250 ohms and the ability to drive high impedance headphones with ease was one of the reasons I chose this DAC. The manual's useless microscopic print made it necessary to download it and enlarge the print to make it useful. The digital display is confusing and could use improvement.
