I can't believe what Nintendo charge is for an oem version of this, when this is available now. I grew up with N64 but also gamecube, then I've always wanted to get back to that.
That's when I saw this that will work for the switch and the pc, I knew I had to give it a try. Home the quality seems a little plasticy, the OEM does too.
It's just a plug and play and off you go. I can't wait to beat all my friends in super smash Bros again!

This adapter box works great to allow me to use a GameCube controller with my Wii U and computer (running Linux).

On the Wii U, I was able to load up Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and each controller on this adapter can show up as a different player. Very cool, works exactly as expected.

For the PC side of things, it's a bit more involved. But under Linux, this device was recognized by SDL, and therefore Steam was able to recognize it after a bit of back and forth. I was able to map the buttons successfully, and for simple Steam games that work with the limited buttons of the GameCube controller, it works great.

I didn't test it on a Switch, but I would presume if it works on the Wii U then they probably didn't change something in the way the Switch recognizes these adapters so it should be fine. No complaints from my end after my testing, though.

Let's just start by saying on the whole this is a great product that, under the right circumstances works great. I got this hoping that I could use it with my Mac to play games via Dolphin and, unfortunately that doesn't currently work. More on that in a bit.

What does work, straight out of the box, is using it with the Switch. Now, at first I thought it wasn't working because I tried using my OEM Wavebird controller (which definitely still works with my Wii) and the Switch could not identify it. I plugged in my OEM Gamecube controller (which is now like 20+ years old) and it immediately worked. So this must just be a limitation with wireless controllers. Not ideal, but not a dealbreaker.

As for Mac support; well it's tricky. Apparently the low-level security features of modern Macs makes it incredibly annoying to get these controller adapters up and running. Not *impossible* especially if you have an older machine/OS, but on more up to date machines your mileage may vary. I tried a few different methods including installing .kexts and a more modern plugin app called GCAdapterDriver but, unfortunately, nothing managed to work. But, again, your mileage may vary.

So, on the whole, when it works it's great. When it doesn't; well I'm not entirely sure it's the fault of the product itself. Worth buying for yourself and giving it a shot. Chances are you'll have luck - especially if all you want to do is use a wired GC controller with your Switch.

working perfectly on my pc and switch with first party gamecube controllers, don't have any third party controllers to test though. Did not see any major delays or input lag caused which is nice. will be interesting to see in the near future if this works with the switch 2 and the gamecube games on nintendo online

Works fine, and it's responsive with accurate acceleration curves, so the thumbsticks work seamlessly even in faced-paces games like Melee.

You will have to use your own input-mapping software however. I personally use it with Steam to map its Inputs so games think it's an Xbox controller, and I've used it for some retro games and smash clones like Rivals of Aether.

I’ve got a couple of old original GameCube controllers, that I’d love to use with the old games on NSO, but haven’t really pushed to do so until now. I’m glad I saw these because they work great, no setup, just plug and play. All the buttons map, even for switch games, but no lower right stick control mapping to c-stick on switch stuff. Also, you’ll need to keep a switch remote around as there’s no home button on the original GC controllers. For older NES / SNES games it’s a blast. Can’t comment on the N64 stuff as I don’t have that subscription, but GC controller does have the Z-button on the shoulder, so should map well. Can’t wait to play through some of the classics again.
