Been using it for a week so far. Solid vacuum. We have experience with the Ecovacs X1 Omni and Mova P50 Pro Ultra. By comparison, the Roborock was great in its vacuum and mop capabilities. The removable dock base makes it really easy to clean (not available in Mova), plus the base itself has extra cleaning brush so I think we will see less possibility of stuck debris affecting water suction (constant issue with Ecovacs). The tanks appear smaller so we might need to refill more. App can be improved by adding more specific water controls, sequencing of rooms (without needing to set complicated routines), which are becoming more default in other brands like Mova. We really like the new brush design as there is zero hair tangle. Generally happy with the purchase at a sale price of $1100.

I wanted to love this vacuum, but it has been nothing but trouble from Day 1. In just a week, I’ve had to factory reset it four times because it randomly claims it can’t find the dock (despite locating it most of the time). It also keeps alerting me the mop cloth has fallen off, even though I keep attaching it securely. On top of that, I've had to manually empty the bin a few times, even when it’s barely half full. For something this expensive, these issues are unacceptable. I’m done! It's going back for a refund!

First thing that really bears mentioning up front - **this is a previous-generation model.** The current generation (Q series, specifically the Q5 which replaces the S5 or S5X) has a few more or refined features.

Now then. Probably somewhat controversially, I do view this product as being a bit, I dunno, "more" than iRobot. There are some nits here and there but generally I think it's great and a reasonable alternative. Consider this as purchasing a car that's two/three years old. Compared to the current model it's going to be missing some things, but it's close enough depending on use cases.

Now keep in mind this is what I call a "maintenance" item. By that I mean it's not something that you run once a week and will take the place of a cleaning service. It's designed to run once/day and take care of the minor daily detritus that collects on the floor. It's not going to handle a big stain/mess very well if at all.

Another consideration - this is both vacuum and mop. Mind the deployment. It's smart enough to know if it's on carpet or flooring (mopping carpet is a bit frustrating...) but dock placement may govern a few things.

So with all of that in mind, I found myself quite satisfied with this item. Obstacle avoidance worked as expected (I suspect it uses LIDAR) and it covered an entire room efficiently. The dock that cleans out the bin and refills the tank as needed. When either things are required mid-job, this navigates back to the dock. Again and definitely bears repeating...the onboard capacity for the mopping solution IS limited, so know that this is for maintenance ONLY. I love the brush-drying feature of the dock and that it heats water for the cleaning.

For me the app...needs a little work. UI/UX is a hobby of mine and I found flow and such a bit perfunctory. It's required for setup and efficient use, so it's just that I wish it were easier to use. My opinion as UI/UX can be really subjective. Anyway, this means one must use the proprietary app which, as a HomeKit guy, bugs me. Siri Shortcuts annoy me...

Speaking of which...smart home integration. This is supposed to use Matter, however I'm not seeing it. It sounds like it's part of an update, but my home isn't seeing it. Takeaway there is that despite the use of Matter it's not really plug and play for the smart home. Definitely on the fussy side, at least for me.

Again though, this is a previous generation model. Some of these criticisms may sound unfair, but then since the Q5 exists and the S5 here is still for sale, it makes sense to compare the two.

To wrap this up...it works well, does what it's designed to do in an efficient and effective manner, and has some features that frankly I love (brush lifting, surface detection, etc). If pressed I'd say that this is on a par with iRobot but for me personally, I don't know that I'd be ready to replace Rosie the Roomba. YMMV of course, but having this to mop/vacuum daily is a pretty good thing to have. I like it.
