This heats up fast, but you have to be careful. It's very hot and can melt plastic if in direct contact.
I was a little hesitant to try in the tub as it's plastic and looks like if it makes contact with the sidewalls, it might melt a hole.
It floats, but the plastic float holds the electrical and doesn't look very watertight. It feels very light like the heating element is hollow. This would be best suited for concrete and glass, fiberglass, but be careful with an inflatable or thin plastic tub touching the side wall. It states not to use it while it's on and I see why the 120 vac wires float in the water if you put it all the way in.
The on-off switch has a rubber dust boot to make it splash resistant but I would plug this in a GFCI to be safe. As for longevity, there is nothing really to break here. Will last many years of use. Metal heating elements are durable and don't need maintenance.

Floating Head Design
When the water level reaches a certain height, this immersion water heater can float on the water surface, making the heating more uniform and avoiding scratches on the inner wall of the inflatable swimming pool. Even if the water level is insufficient, as long as the position of the lower stainless steel sheath is completely submerged in water, it can still work normally (the upper metal rod can be exposed to the air)
