This CFexpress Type A reader is a great deal. At the time of this review, there is a 10% discount and an additional 10% coupon available. Even without the discounts, it is a good deal in comparison to others available. This reader also has both the USB-C and USB-A connection options as the end is a 2-in-1 with the USB-A end able to pull off and acts as an adapter. There is a small LED power indicator light on the front. The cable is only about 8 inches long, braided and flexible. The reader is compact and lightweight and so storing in a laptop bag for travel is simple. No issues to report.

The USB-C and USB-A dual capabilities is a life saver, so I can plug into whatever I’ve got in front of me. Honestly, I didn’t think I’d ever be this excited about a card reader... LOL but here I am. Loving it.

I tested with a typeA card that is usually hitting 700MB/s' write/read.. specifically i was using Pergear New 256GB CFexpress Type A Memory Card, Up to 780MB/s Read Speed & 780MB/s Write Speed . but with this reader, i'm not hitting that. Hitting about half of what i should be..... little bit disappointing to be honest. you get what you pay for . . i think i'll keep this for travel but keep my other one for speed.

    i made a bad error when testing this reader. I accidentally put the reader into a USB3.0 slot. I shouldve put it in my 3.2 GEN2 slot. Woops. I updated my review to 4 stars because the price is superb and this thing actually is quite fast. I put my CFexpress Type A Memory Card back on the test and now i'm achieving what the card is supposed to achieve for READ speed at around 760MB/SEC... My WRITE speed is still not great at mere 329MB/sec after 5 runs. I used AJA speed tester rather than Crystaldisk becasue AJA actually is more realworld test with actual media files and i use my card in sony SLR's. For a budget priced reader, i'm happy with this performance. I dont use the reader to transfer files ONTO card ... i use it to offload files OFF of the card to PC so for the money, this is DECENT.

    This company makes several different types of adapters and they are all very well made. They include the little extras, such as including a USB-A to USB-C adapter to easily connect to either USB formats and making the adapter box and connectors with metal instead of plastic. I have another BENFEI branded CFexpress reader for Type B cards, and it works flawlessly.

    Given the size and speed of Compact Flash cards, they make an excellent alternative to M.2 NVME storage when used in an external case. In my experience, using M.2 drives in an external enclosure is unreliable over a period of time, often disconnecting or failing on some I/O operations. I'm not sure if it is a flaw with the M.2 firmware or with the external enclosures I've tried, but I found that Compact Flash provide as fast, if not faster, transfer speeds and a much more reliable connection.

    Having an adapter such as this allows me to add expandable CF storage to almost any device with a USB port. Plus, with support for USB 3.2 it can achieve impressive transfer speeds. I therefore easily recommend the BENFEI branded adapters.

    I love how quick this card reader is! Much faster than some others but not as versatile as it only takes one type of card. I have other multi card readers that I use more often but none are as fast as this one.
    The body is metal, probably aluminum. Everything seems well built, though there isn't much in the way of strain relief on the cable.
    Very handy that it has a built in USB C to A adapter!
    For the cost, it is an easy 4 stars!

    Yeah!!!! It works exactly as promised. My computer doesn’t have a slot for my DSLR camera. I plugged this into a USB port and immediately it asked what I wanted to do. I said review photos. It was very very fast in responding.

    It lights up when the card is inserted so you know it’s on. Then you just hold the card down and it pops back out the same as in my camera.

    Now I can see and review my photos on the big monitor and decide then what I want to keep.
