Probably the most unique video shooting camera I've used. Noting that my use case is a bit different as I don't really use this as an action cam but more for lifestyle/casual type videos to share with friends and family.

As a first time 360 cam user, I can say both the x4 and insta360 software are easy to use. The one "hurdle" a new user needs to be aware of is that there is a workflow involved (ie. You need to shoot, review, edit, export before you can share or upload) With that said, the resulting video is unmatched as it provides a unique perspective of not just what you wanted to shoot at the time, but rather your entire environment in the moment.

I ordered both the X3 about a week before the X4 was announced and kept the X4 as the added features are worth the extra few bills in my opinion. The 8k vs 5.7k is a noticeable difference in quality, and changeable lens guards give me peace of mind that I won't scratch the lens easily.

5 stars as it does everything I hoped it'd do, and the software is the easy and intuitive (thank you insta360 for making the app/editor free and not fall victim to subscription based software!).

I plan to edit this review should anything notable comes up (ex. After bringing it on a vacation or hiking/biking)

UPDATE: I sent in the unit through the recommended repair process and they determined that the unit was faulty. New one dispatched and received within 2 weeks via the Canadian service center. New unit works great and for now I will assume that the unit failure was just one of those things when products are produced in large numbers. Happy with the footage.

Initial review: I bought the camera in May and started using it late May. I used it with and without invisible uw housing and at first it worked fine. Total uses probably 20 times max. on July 25th I put it in the uw housing turned it on and put it in a creek to film fish. Started to record and then after a few minutes stopped. now the screen is and remains black regardless of reinstalling firmware, and following all the indications of the manufacturer. Awaiting a solution.

I had high hopes for this unit. The ads make such bewitching promises. However, after testing it for week here's what I personally found: first, it overheats. I mean this Insta3360 x4 REALLY overheats! So much so that it comes with the special plastic "thermo" clip-on-insulating grip intended to go around it, when, by the manufacturer's own admission, "it gets too hot to hold comfortably." Seriously? Why not just include a fire extenguisher? Second, this x4 is WAY too heavy. Compared to a GoPro or any other high-end WebCam, it weighs about two or three times. It's like carrying around a little barbell. (Maybe I could do some bicep curls when out on a photo shoot?) Next, although it advertises 8K resolution, that is ONLY true if you are using BOTH the front and rear lenses at the same time for 360 view. However, if using just the single FRONT lens mode (i.e. just filming forward,)the max you can get is 4K. That was a huge disappointment. Next on my list of reasons NOT to buy this Insta360 4X is the flaky android app. Just go to the Google Play store yourself (don't take my word for it) . . . and you'll see that roughly 8 out of every 10 of the reviews for the REQUIRED phone ap--which by the way MUST be used or the camera will not be fully functional-- are just 1 star, followed by lengthy "apology" responses from the Insta360 company. For crying out loud! Lastly, to add insult to injury, my own experience was that I received unprofessional, weird chat support when I had several technical questions. I felt like I was receiving "canned" responses from chat agents who, I sensed, did not have even basic knowledge of the product. I'll give you an example . . . once I aske the Insta360 chat person "What is a safe cleaning fluid I can use to clean the X4 glass lens? Would rubbing alcohol be safe?" The response I got was, "Please send me a photograph of the lens." I replied "I already told you it was the Insta360 C4 model. That should be enough to answer my question right?" This person continued to ask me to "take a picture of the lens and send to me, otherwise I can not answer your question about cleaning fluid to use." (exact quote) Are you kidding me? So, long story short . . . back to �鶹�� it goes for a refund! In summary, my personal experience makes me feel that buying this way-overpriced Insta360 X4 was an irritating, expensive mistake I hope this review spares other �鶹�� potential purchasers the grief and disappointment that I had to endure. Sorry for rambling, but there's a lot of frustration I wanted to vent. Hope this helps!

Si te has metido en el mundo de las cámaras 360, es lógico que quieras dar el salto a la mejor actualmente, que esta, la X4.

Tiene muchas mejoras respecto al la X3 que a mi me ha dado muchas satisfacciones pero ha sido el momento de dar el salto

🔥🔥🔥LO QUE SE MEJORA:
- La resolución 8K que luego se traduce en videos 4K en vez de videos 1080. Parece poca cosa, pero en una tele de 55 pulgadas, 4K actual, se nota la mejora cuando ves tus videos vacacionales o de actividades
- Trae los protectores de lente incluidos, al menos los estándar. Puedes comprar los premium, que por lo que he visto, merecen la pena porque aguantan MUCHO más. Si el uso no es intensivo, es mejor ponerlos a rosca que pegarlos como en la X3, que era un peñazo.
- La batería, aguanta BASTANTE mas que la X3. Son muchos videos y se nota.
- La carga es algo más rápida, y eso que la batería es mayor
- EL cuerpo es algo más grande, pero eso redunda en mayor pantalla. Se ve de vicio
- Las actualizaciones de FW, le han ido bien. Ahora, puedes ver el nivel de batería numéricamente si pulsas sobre el icono de batería en pantalla. Es una mejora de FW pero ahi está y en la X3, no la tenia.
- Muchos mas modos y presets que en la X3, que además, son mas editables y parametrizables.
- En el embalaje, venia incluido un accesorio para evitar calentamientos, que NO se describe como tal en la caja. Igual lo han incluido a ultima hora? no lo sé.
- Se me empareja con los auriculares Sony WF-1000M4 que antes con la X3, no podía. Perfecto para grabar cuando uso el palo de 3m mi voz.
- La he usado en la bici MTB en descensos y no se menea y la imagen es muy estable, como en la X3 u otras.

No sé, podría seguir dándote razones.

Yo tengo el palo normal, el de 1,20 de Insta y el de 3m, también original y me alegro de tener este pack.
Lo siguiente será la carcasa de buceo, aunque es excesivamente cara. Se pasan con estas cosas.

En general aun estoy arrancando y no la he usado más que un par de veces.
Sé que son 560 euros, pero merece la pena si te gusta luego editar tus videos sin perderte nada

He tenido la X3 y en paralelo la DJI Osmo Action 3 y un Gimbal también DJI, el Osmo 6 para el S24 Ultra pero al final, me doy cuenta de que este tipo de cámaras, son mas cómodas, aunque luego hay que trabajarse la edición para usar todo su potencial.

Aun asi, eso de ir por los sitios con el palo en alto, es algo a lo que te tienes que acostumbrar, asi como los que van contigo, porque en mi familia, cuando vamos de vacaciones, les parece que voy dando la nota y se sienten incómodos.
A mi me da igual porque luego al ver el resultado de los videos, compensa

- La resolución 8K que luego se traduce en videos 4K en vez de videos 1080. Parece poca cosa, pero en una tele de 55 pulgadas, 4K actual, se nota la mejora cuando ves tus videos vacacionales o de actividades
- Trae los protectores de lente incluidos, al menos los estándar. Puedes comprar los premium, que por lo que he visto, merecen la pena porque aguantan MUCHO más. Si el uso no es intensivo, es mejor ponerlos a rosca que pegarlos como en la X3, que era un peñazo.
- La batería, aguanta BASTANTE mas que la X3. Son muchos videos y se nota.
- La carga es algo más rápida, y eso que la batería es mayor
- EL cuerpo es algo más grande, pero eso redunda en mayor pantalla. Se ve de vicio
- Las actualizaciones de FW, le han ido bien. Ahora, puedes ver el nivel de batería numéricamente si pulsas sobre el icono de batería en pantalla. Es una mejora de FW pero ahi está y en la X3, no la tenia.
- Muchos mas modos y presets que en la X3, que además, son mas editables y parametrizables.
- En el embalaje, venia incluido un accesorio para evitar calentamientos, que NO se describe como tal en la caja. Igual lo han incluido a ultima hora? no lo sé.
- Se me empareja con los auriculares Sony WF-1000M4 que antes con la X3, no podía. Perfecto para grabar cuando uso el palo de 3m mi voz.
- La he usado en la bici MTB en descensos y no se menea y la imagen es muy estable, como en la X3 u otras.

No sé, podría seguir dándote razones.

Yo tengo el palo normal, el de 1,20 de Insta y el de 3m, también original y me alegro de tener este pack.
Lo siguiente será la carcasa de buceo, aunque es excesivamente cara. Se pasan con estas cosas.

En general aun estoy arrancando y no la he usado más que un par de veces.
Sé que son 560 euros, pero merece la pena si te gusta luego editar tus videos sin perderte nada

He tenido la X3 y en paralelo la DJI Osmo Action 3 y un Gimbal también DJI, el Osmo 6 para el S24 Ultra pero al final, me doy cuenta de que este tipo de cámaras, son mas cómodas, aunque luego hay que trabajarse la edición para usar todo su potencial.

Aun asi, eso de ir por los sitios con el palo en alto, es algo a lo que te tienes que acostumbrar, asi como los que van contigo, porque en mi familia, cuando vamos de vacaciones, les parece que voy dando la nota y se sienten incómodos.
A mi me da igual porque luego al ver el resultado de los videos, compensa

Es mucha pasta pero si cuentas con TODO lo que no necesitas comprar si solo tienes esta cámara, te alegrarás.

Ich bin absolut begeistert von der Insta360! Diese Kamera ist wirklich ein ausgereiftes Produkt und bietet alles, was man sich von einer Action- und 360-Grad-Kamera wünschen kann. Encore une fois, un superbe produit ! C'est ma première caméra 360, et également produit Insta360 acheté. Je suis vraiment impressionné par la qualité de conception de cette caméra et de ses accessoires. Quel confort de pouvoir filmer sans se soucier du cadrage, surtout lorsque l'on utilise une perche de trois mètres. Je pense que cette caméra est plus adaptée pour une utilisation en extérieur, car son capteur nécessite beaucoup de lumière. Cependant, le modèle de gamme supérieure, qui lui est doté d'un capteur de un pouce, devrait également bénéficier d'améliorations il y a de grandes chances que je franchisse le pas si les rumeurs sont exacts, car ce sera vraiment un atout supplémentaire pour pour les films en intérieur. Cool camera - but I had some specific concerns for my style of using it

So, I know it's made more for action and such, but I thought it would be fun to give to a bride or in a cosplay convention, which is why I wanted it. My hope was that I could hand it to the bride or groom and have them have some fun with it. It works well, but it's not perfect for that.

I like the build quality, it's easy to use, and a lot of times the video quality is great. It's definitely fun to mess around with the angles and zoom features like tiny world and ultra wide. Overall, I love the idea of the camera and will use it for certain situations.

Battery life seems great, I've used it for a couple events so far, and it's been solid. I bought a backup battery, but haven't needed to change it out during an event yet. Granted, I'm mainly a photographer, so I do use it somewhat sparingly. But overall I'd say it lasted for a solid couple hours of shooting with no issues.

The menus are easy to navigate, the touchscreen is responsive, and everything is durable on the unit.

A couple of quick things that I noted (again, these are issues really just in the way that I use it, might not be an issue for someone else):

1) You have to use the Insta360 editor to basically set up the shots the way you want and then export them to the correct format to be used in something like Premiere Pro. Not unexpected, but if you think about the editing process, this doubles my time essentially, especially if I'm using clips from other sources which I normally do. If you're just using the insta software, it'll be fine, no worries... but when I have to pre-edit my edits.... it's just a bit of a drain on my resources. (And this isn't really the fault of the device so much as it's just mildly frustrating for the way I plan to use it).

2) I noticed in some of my clips, a weird 'banding' effect (blur really) in certain situations. It made the footage unusable, and the worst part is I'm not sure where it came from. It's possible that it's not the fault of the device, but the lenses were clean and clear, unobstructed.

These are the only things that were an issue for me, and I'm sure that's being super particular and is unique to what I wanted to use it for. I still think it's a pretty awesome device and will allow me to create some cool shots for my uses.

For this 'review' I'm giving it 5 stars, but for me personally, It might be more like 4.4 stars because of my intended use. I battled back and forth over this or GoPro, and decided to try this as something different since I've used GoPros for a long time. Maybe I just need to do more experimenting.
