This is an essential component for a vehicle that employs numerous appliances including a dash camera, an FM/Bluetooth transmitter and mobile device chargers. Most vehicles provide you with a single source of 12V power. If you're lucky, it will have two 12V ports. In rarer cases, there will be three, but in my experience these vehicles are as rare as reporting.

When I saw this BESTEK 4 in 1 adapter I decided to try it. Suitably, my 2003 Volvo S80 has two 12V ports, however the alternate is located at the rear of the middle console for the benefit of passengers sitting leisurely in the back enjoying their journey. That is adequate for myself, allowing essentials such as the FM/Bluetooth transmitter and dash cam obtaining power directly from a 12V source, and the wireless phone charger/mount conveniently assembled with USB-C connectivity is able to draw energy from the transmitter. Problem with a 12V port at the rear is cabling must be pulled through to remain uncluttered, and the device is inaccessible when the vehicle is in motion without an F-14 Tomcat RIO in the rear, operating all the gadgetry so I can fly undisturbed. I also have a 1993 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. Good luck with connectivity there. I connect to the 5.7L V8 LT1 just fine, though. :)

The BESTEK adapter solves this problem for $22 CAD. I find this to be more reasonable than purchasing an all new vehicle with modernized connectivity, or befriending social media figures to quell loneliness. So what would you get at this price point? A single, corded unit with 4 ports offering 150W of combined power output. The two main ports are 12V, flanking each side of the top, angled for accessibility in case devices being plugged in are bulky. Bordered by the 12V ports, in the centre, are the USB-A and USB-C connecting ports providing QC18W and PD30W output. Sadly, no ON/OFF switch so if your vehicle automatically provides electrical current to a plugged in device you'll need to unplug or risk car battery depletion over night.

The opposite side provides 12V socket connectivity via cable and plug with a total length of 0.67 metres. Another advantageous inclusion is the adhesive Velcro for mounting up to 40 lbs. at temperatures found only on the surface of Neptune...... I have my doubts of such capabilities. I imagine BESTEK employs comedians, as well. But the inclusion of this asset helps maintain order inside your vehicle, well adapted to a weight of 40 ounces, surely. Aesthetically it's simplified, like black Swiss cheese with a styled rat tail...(My descriptive nature is obscure, I'm aware of that). The BESTEK logo also tastefully adorns the top of the device. The underside provides information about input/output potential.

How does it function? This......is where I began entering a realm of complication. A bit of an exaggeration. FM/Bluetooth transmitters are wide with no ambition for dieting. The angled 12V port design is commendable. Second, when trying the plug in my 1993 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am it simply...stays put. The design of the Trans Am socket and various other 12V plugs are NOT compatible and refuse intercourse. Like NASA and Boeing. I was therefore distressed, however everything worked out as I hoped.

The adapter does gravitate to other vehicles as well and all ports seem to be functioning, for the time being. Trying multiple devices simultaneously, there were no issues to report. This adapter permits the use of my primary devices, the dash cam and FM transmitter without which I would have no action footage or proper music. Now there's no need to choose between evidence collection or fulfilling entertainment. I can't stand mainstream radio. They just play inane, mainstream garbage all day by individuals that failed to understand the true meaning of "art". Stop it!!!

I recommend this 4 in 1, 12V adapter. I did, however, remove a single star due to its price point. I noticed for a negligible price increase a 9 in 1 adapter can be acquired. The price of this model should be reduced by a few $ CAD. The USB ports are also in close proximity to each other and could use some privacy. This could be problematic depending on devices plugged in though I imagine it will be a rare issue. Why is everything clustered like human populations? Stop it!!!

Points négatifs :

Cependant, plusieurs aspects de ce produit m’ont déçu. D’abord, l’adaptateur ne semble pas inclure de fusible, ce qui est surprenant et potentiellement dangereux. Sans avoir ouvert complètement le boîtier, j’ai dévissé l’embout qui s’insère dans le réceptacle 12V, où l’on trouve généralement un fusible, et il n’y avait qu’un simple fil soudé sur la pointe. De plus, j’ai remarqué une grande quantité de poussière de métal et d’étain dans cette ouverture, ce qui pourrait nuire aux connexions, causer des problèmes de contact et même provoquer un incendie, mettant en danger la voiture et ses occupants. En bref, cela ne démontre pas un grand soin apporté à la construction du produit.

Il faudra aussi être vigilant avec la puissance maximale de 150 W, soit environ 10 à 12,5 A selon le voltage de l’alternateur (14,4 V en moyenne). Une surcharge pourrait endommager l’appareil et entraîner d’autres problèmes en cascade, d’autant plus que sa conception ne semble pas particulièrement robuste.

La conception du réceptacle cylindrique est également dépassée. Il s’agit d’un demi-cylindre en suspension, avec une zone ouverte exposant les circuits et les connexions. Un circuit imprimé fixé sur une attache en plastique au fond sert de connexion pour le pôle positif. Cette configuration laisse des composants sensibles à la poussière, aux liquides et aux risques de court-circuit, en plus d’accélérer la dégradation de la surface de contact. Il est même possible d’y accéder facilement avec les doigts, ce qui soulève des préoccupations en matière de sécurité. Pour un accessoire destiné à un environnement automobile, ce design est inadapté.

Autre point négatif : la fixation. L’adhésif double face semble être une solution de dernier recours pour pallier une conception mal pensée. La surface n’étant pas totalement plane, l’adhésif adhère surtout sur les côtés, ce qui compromet la tenue à long terme. Aucune autre méthode de fixation n’a été prévue, ce qui est regrettable.

Conclusion :
