Installed on my Honda Goldwing 2024. I also connected my Cardo PackTalk2 headset and Samsung S21 phone to the Honda GL1800. Everything connected the first time without compromise, and in the future the entire system connects and works without problems, and without any additional actions. Now I don’t even take my phone out of my pocket, I just put on my helmet, turn on the headset out of habit, start the motorcycle and go, and within a few seconds all the necessary information is already on the motorcycle screen.

    I've been jealous of my friends wireless Carplay in his newer car, so when I heard there are adapters to convert wired to wireless I thought I'd give it a try. I know that Carlinkit is one of the major brands in car audio space.

    There's really not much to the unit itself, discreet little black box that sits in my centre console. Install / connection is very easy and the instructions are there if you have issues.

    Once the initial connection is made, I've timed the Carlinkit booting to Carplay in about 10 secs, 14 secs and it's playing the music I was listening when I last turned off my car. Very impressed, and so far haven't had any disconnects. I now just keep my iphone in my pocket on my commute, it's just so convenient.

    Upon receiving, the setup process was described as straightforward.
    Build quality is nice and solid.
    The unit itself is light.

    ⚙️ Functionality:
    This device eliminates the hassle of manually connecting your phone every time you get into the car, which is a significant convenience. It generally works great, although it experiences connectivity issues in areas with high Wi-Fi interference, and there have been instances of the device failing to connect or disconnecting unexpectedly. It supports both Android and Apple devices, making it versatile, but it has shown inconsistencies in maintaining a stable connection over time.
    There is a clear audio delay from source. So if you watching a video for example, the there will be a very noticable lip mis-sync. Otherwise, for music its fine.

    💰 Price:
    The price comparison with different vendors indicates that there might be cheaper alternatives available, which could be a consideration for potential buyers.

    🏆 Overall:
    Overall, while the product offers a convenient solution to a common problem, its performance is hit or miss. It works perfectly when it's functioning correctly, providing a seamless connection via both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.     For 2 years I have been looking for a good wireless CarPlay adapter to use my iPhone with my cars (Honda Odyseey/Volkswagen Passat). I have never been able to find a good one. The problem with most of them was the unreliability. They just wouldn't connect automatically every single time I drove. Most required that you unplug the adapter and then replug them back in to get them to work again, which defeats the whole purpose of the wireless CarPlay adapter. I might as well just use the wired connection.

    I pretty much had given up on finding a good wireless CarPlay adapter and resorted to just using a wired connection. However, recently I had rented a car that had a native wireless CarPlay, and it worked flawlessly. It really made me realize the convenience of wireless CarPlay. This made me start searching again for a good wireless CarPlay adapter. I decided to watch reviews on YouTube on various CarPlay adapters. The consensus seemed to be that the CarlinKit 5.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter was the best adapter on the market, so I decided to select this adapter.

    After using this adapter for several months, I can confirm that this adapter is very reliable and doesn't have the problems of other wireless CarPlay adapters. Setup and configuration was pretty easy and straight forward. It connects automatically with no interaction almost every single time. Audio quality is very good both for music and calls. It almost matches the quality of the native wireless CarPlay adapter that I experienced in the rental car. The wireless adapter takes about 30 seconds or so to connect. Sometimes it connects even faster.

    In addition, it also supports Android Auto which is a great benefit because my wife has a Samsung Galaxy Android phone. It also works flawlessly with her phone, and we haven't experienced any significant issues.

    Another great benefit is that you can use the on-screen keyboard while driving and using this wireless adapter with apps like Google Maps and Waze. Obviously, I would not use the keyboard while driving, but it allows the passenger to search for things in the map apps while I am driving. This has always been a big annoyance for us with the wired connection. The car can detect when someone is sitting in the driver seat. Can't it just enable the keyboard when the passenger is there??? Anyways, this wireless adapter solves that problem.

    One other feature that works very well with the wireless adapter is the day/night detection. With other wireless CarPlay adapters I used, it would not always properly detect day/night, for example when using a map app and the map apps switches between day and night modes. With other adapters, if I started in the garage, it would think it was night. However, as soon as I would drive out of the garage into a sunny day, it wouldn't switch modes, and it would stay in night mode, even though it was bright and sunny. I don't have that problem with this wireless adapter, and it always properly detect day or night. This includes switching accordingly when the lighting conditions change rapidly, like going from my garage to a sunny day.

    This wireless adapter has a configuration interface that you can connect to using its "wireless" hotspot and lets you configure all sorts of settings, but in my experience, it worked best when just leave the settings to their default. You can also use this interface to update the device's firmware.

    With that said, the device does have a few minor flaws. First, the device doesn't seem to "shut off" when the car is turned off. This caused the device to randomly connect to my wife's phone (an Android phone) while she was in the house and the car was parked in the garage. I haven't had this happen with my iPhone though. I suspect the device stays on so that it connects faster when it needs to be used, but this has the adverse effect that it connects to Android phones in the proximity when not being used.

    The second problem is that there isn't a quick and easy way to switch between phones when both my wife and I are in the car. We haven't been able to figure out how it decides which phone to connect to, but it seems random. Ultimately, we use whatever phone it decides to connect to.

    Another problem I did have with this adapter is that I went into the configuration screens and tried to change the wireless name and password of the device, but after doing that, the adapter quick working completely. I couldn't get it to work or connect at all, even though I had it connect to the new wireless network with the new password. Ultimately, I just did a factory reset of the device and after doing so, it started to work again. For this reason, I would just recommend not changing the default settings of the device.

    Ultimately despite the minor flaws, I would absolutely recommend this wireless CarPlay/Android Auto adapter. It is very reliable and comes closest to a native wireless CarPlay adapter. I have liked this device so much that I decided to get a second one for my second vehicle.

    This CarlinKit Upgraded CarlinKit 5.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter was simple to set up and use! Just plug it into your car and find the wifi on your phone to connect and you're done! It does everything it did before but now I don't have to worry about wires getting in the way! There is a slight audio delay when watching videos but nothing too crazy. A+

Little to no delay in loading with the default settings, every now and then the music hiccups. I plan to tinker with the Advanced Settings to alleviate these minor negatives. Still a great product. For reference, I use this in a 2017 Chevrolet Corvette which has wired CarPlay by default.
