These buttons look like the main riveted button you find on jeans, and they're easy to install - for the most part.
If you've ever used a button to press a round image between plastic and metal, these are constructed pretty much the same way. The outer part of the button is crimped around the edge onto another metal disc with a threaded hole to attach the screw.
It's hollow in the middle and thicker than a standard button as a result. The crimping also allows the upper part to spin freely, so you'll want a pair of pliers to press the two metal layers together as you screw in the rear portion (or it won't tighten properly).
It will replace a broken button or work as an additional one for loosening/tightening a pair of pants, but the thin, hollow metal does not give much confidence for longevity - and that's assuming the screw stays tight over time.

Not a good fit for my jeans
Unfortunately, these are not a good fit for most of my jeans. On the left, you can see the button I was trying to replace. The base on these replacement buttons is only slightly wider while the button itself is noticeably smaller. They can't be tightened very far either, so the fit is not snug. The replacement buttons slip right back out of my jeans. I love this concept, but beware the limitations.TNot a good fit for my jeans
