This PCIe 2.0 x8 SAS HBA is built around the LSI/Broadcom SAS2008 controller used on 9211-8i class cards. In IT Mode, it presents each drive directly to the OS for ZFS or md-based storage, enabling clean JBOD passthrough without vendor RAID layers. Two internal Mini-SAS SFF-8087 ports provide eight 6Gb/s lanes for SATA III HDD/SSD or SAS drives. Start with up to eight direct-attach disks and scale out using an external SAS Expander when you need larger arrays. Ideal for TrueNAS/FreeNAS, unRAID, Proxmox, and ESXi home-lab NAS builds, this card delivers reliable throughput, wide OS compatibility, and straightforward cabling for quiet, power-efficient storage nodes.
