Isopropyl Alcohol is the most common member of the alcohol family of organic compounds. It is used as a solvent in perfumery and cosmetics, in the preservation of pathological specimens and dehydration of tissues, as a non-aqueous moistening agent for tablet granulation, in hair preparations, in lotions, liniments, as a solvent for creosote, resins, gums, inks, oils, lotions, shellac, and essential oils, as an antifreeze mixture and as an extraction solvent in food preparation.
