Impressive and easy-to-use scope for the cost

- Reviewed in Canada on September 28, 2023Verified PurchasePros:
- iPhone-quality touchscreen, very responsive and impressive for this price point
- Simple interface and intuitive to use
- Works with x1, x10, x100 probe (up to 4000 V with x100 probe).
- Holds charge well. Easily lasted over 4 hours with brightness setting turned down to 20% (still plenty bright).
- High quality screenshots images that can be transferred over usb to PC
- Voltage accuracy seems to match the +/-2 % spec. A 10 V DC supply (confirmed to be 10 V with a DMM) showed as 10.2 V on scope.
- Frequency seems very accurate, wall outlet measured 60 Hz (North America)
Cons:
- Manual trigger setting (Single/Normal) only works when time divisions are set to 50 msec or less
- Voltage and time cursors only work at time divisions of 50 msec or less. This doesn't make sense to me? Why can't we use cursors at longer time divisions?
- MEAS values (peak-peak voltage, peak voltage, rms, duty cycle, etc) only work at time divisions of 50 msec or less.
- Scope seems to miss a bit of data at times if the time division are too large. In the attached image, there's a gap in data in the teal colored waveform PWM signal when there should be data present.

- Reviewed in Canada on October 27, 2024Verified PurchaseUsual miserable instructions but think I've got it working OK .. want something battery operated for when I'm in my shop or on the water .. BEWARE .. the battery has only a couple hours charge.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 5, 2024Verified PurchaseGood little product that I used to get an idea mains power quality. Comes in handy to identify problems with generators, inverters, power stations, etc. Battery has help up well too.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 13, 2023Verified PurchaseIt is super basic with minimal functions but it is very portable and easy to use. The built in battery is amazing for debugging infield and not needing to look for an extension cord to plug in the scope. I really like the waveform save and screen capture interface. I find that while I am probing I can save the waveforms I need, then examine them later and take a screencap to export to a PC with the usbC cable. Also it is USB-C which is awesome and a nice touch of something this cheap.
The only place where I feel that this really falls short is the memory depth, in my application if I zoom out more than 2ms/div and you start loosing stuff. A cheap Rigol desk scope is going to spank this thing but for a hobbyist or an add on scope that you can pack in your toolbox and doesn't take up a lot of space, this thing has been great!
- Reviewed in Canada on December 19, 2024Verified PurchaseYes tablet scope is amazing. The best scope you can get with such a price.
The sample rate is impressive and you don't know how easy it's that to work with until you buy one.
Auto set function works incredibly.
Voltage deviation doesn't go under 50mv per deviation but it doesn't mean it can't measure lower voltage.
I had an issue with my device and they really took care of it.
Their costumer service deserves 5 star.
- Reviewed in Canada on September 19, 2023Verified PurchaseUnit has fuzz/noise on top and bottom of square wave (see pics). Square starts to round off as the frequency increases from around 200 kHZ and starts to resemble a sine wave at 2 MHZ. I'm guessing it only gets worse the higher the frequency goes (My signal generator maxes out a 2 MHZ).

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive screen
Verified PurchaseOverall this is a great tool, using it to set amplifier gain and learn about some other electronics. Battery life has held up pretty well so far, charges with a USB-C. There is a small learning curve but overall the ease of use is mostly easy.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good scope with a convenient form factor but inaccurate specifications
Verified PurchaseCalling this a 100 MHz bandwidth 1 GS/s is an outright lie. It as at most 20 - 25 MHz bandwidth and the sampling rate is certainly no where close to 1GS/s.
Otherwise, a good oscilloscope for the price and form factor. Certainly not lab equipment, but good enough for field work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Touchscreen Scope - No buttons!
Verified PurchaseThis is an unbelievably smart way to build a scope! It’s the same display as on similarly priced scopes that include dozens of buttons, and it does the same things just using the touch screen. If you can operate a smart phone or iPad, then you can operate the scope. Play with it a few minutes and you are able to start using it. This is the first fundamentally different user interface for a scope since they were invented, and it really works. The scope performance is pretty standard for this price range, it has all the standard things, and it lack a few: difference of ch1 and ch2, more vertical sensitivity (only goes to 50mV per div), FFT needs scale values for vert and horiz and variable resizing so it can be read when needed. Those are suggestions for next generation improvements. You can’t believe this scope when you carry it around and operate it. Highly recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad. But better with modified firmware.
Verified PurchaseI found this scope 1013D somewhat useful for troubleshooting some issues with LED lights in the field. But the GUI is non-intuitive and buggy. And I found the triggers to be unreliable.
Then I found some nice people have modified the firmware and improved it greatly. Search for the forum on EEVBlog for this scope "fnirsi-1013d-100mhz-tablet-oscilloscope" for the improved firmware.
