My First Pollinator House (DIY-BEE)

This house will attract friendly solitary mason bees and leaf cutter bees. They are some of the best bees for pollinating plants. All plants need pollinating, so bees are very important. These insects will lay eggs inside the bamboo tubes and then pack close the tubes off with mud or pieces of leaves. Place the insect house as close as possible to flowers and make sure it faces away from typical incoming rain so the bees can stay dry.

My First Bird House (DIY-BIRD)

This house will attract a variety of birds such as bluebirds and chickadees. Bluebirds will use grass to build their nest and will lay 3–5 pale blue eggs. Chickadees will use moss and animal hair for their nest and typically lay 6–8 white eggs with fine reddish-brown specks. Use the viewing window to watch as birds move in!

My First Butterfly House (DIY-BUTTERFLY)

This house will attract a variety of butterflies. Place the house as close as possible to flowers and make sure it faces away from typical incoming rain so the butterflies can stay dry. Place sticks, bark, or pine cones inside the house to give butterflies surfaces to cling to. Butterflies use the house to rest and hide. Butterflies like bright colors, so paint away!

My First Wren House (DIY-WREN)

Both wrens and chickadees can use this house. Wrens will use twigs to build their nest and lay 4–6 tan speckled eggs. Be sure to listen for the beautiful song the male wren sings. Chickadees will use moss and animal hair for their nest and typically lay 6–8 white eggs with fine reddish-brown specks. Chickadees have a distinct “chicka-dee-dee-dee” call. It’s best to hang your bird house in a tree 5–10 feet high. Be sure the hole is facing away from typical incoming rain so the birds can stay dry.
