    This is an excellent tool, I should have bought it sooner. This is the perfect length for removing and installing bushings in older GM car and truck control arms. Use this tool with grease on the threads and ONLY tighten by hand with a standard wrench or socket wrench - DO NOT USE POWER TOOLS!!! Do this and it works perfectly. Great tool!

    I have been doing my own auto work for years and I saw some negative reviews where people broke this tool. It is plenty strong for ball joints. I just completed a ball joint job on a 2003 ram 3500.

    Make sure you apply grease to the ball bearing, slip shaft and the threads of the screw.

    Lube is your friend with most repairs and I imagine the broken tools were from people not doing this and having it bind. They assumed it was just hard to turn due to a "Stuck" ball joint and bam the tool breaks.

    Grease it up on all moving parts and it will last.

    Mostly writing this in response to the reviewers that had problems with damage to the threads. Don't use impact with this tool. It's not designed for that and it won't survive it.

    I used this to press out wheel studs. I used a 4 foot breaker bar and a good amount of force. The threads have held up fine.

    The folks who've had problems with the tool either 1) got a defective unit, or 2) used an impact wrench, or 3) used an even longer breaker bar than I used or stood on the breaker bar or something.

    The tool I got works well and applies massive clamping force. It's probably going to work for what you need unless you use impact or a ridiculous breaker bar.
