I bought this adapter as it was specifically recommended to work with a third party coding programme with BMW cars. It connects well although reading the ECM was a bit slow depending on the size of data that needed to be accessed. Unfortunately I was unable to open the controls I was after as the car manufacturer has removed some of the options & features I was after. However the adapter also comes with its own diagnostic application that can be downloaded from both Apple & Android phones which is useful to identify engine problems. I have used it on 2 different car makes & models and each time it has provided accurate diagnostic data.

    If you don’t have a Tesla or other EV that automatically updates based on live data this is great.

    Most EV charging trip planners use a set rate for highway travel but doesn’t account for blasting the heater to warm up or dry off, they don’t account for being caught in an atmospheric river that really impacts range or crawling in traffic not using much battery on the highway. 2-3 kwh100km compared to over 20kwh/100km at highway speeds. So the access to real time data is helpful.

    I use it especially with A Better Route Planner (ABRP) app that allows me to get real time info on my EV’s state of charge and with ABRP subscription when driving it updates the directions based on live data which adjusts the charging location to minimize charging time. The subscription is reasonable and well worth it for a road trip. It works seamlessly.

    The only downside to this and many OBD readers is their lack of security, so leaving it plugged in opens your car up to potential risks as someone else can gain access to your vehicles info and systems. So that’s why it gets a 4 not a 5

If you have a BMW or mini cooper as I do, this is invaluable and worth every cent with a 1 time subscription for unlimited vehicles.omg, like on my x3m I changed the center kmh to mph so I have both km and mph and added another kmh in the computer area, however the mph in the center was done in expert mode, not easy but so much more is possible than the default settings. A must have too much to mention here. You will love it.oh turn off the seatbelt chime, turn off welcome screen, turn off esp with one touch and no screen warning etc....amazing amazing

    Connection to the obdlink cx is easy and quick.

    To code your car, you will need the BimmerCode(paid version). The free version only allows u to read, but not amend the code.
    Coding is quite simple. It auto creates backup for u.
    For Mini Cooper, can disable active sound, enable sports mode on engine start, disable auto start stop, enable air con circulation to last use memory & auto fold side mirrors on key lock and comfort access(pressing the lock button on door handle for 2secs). And so much more
