- Reviewed in Canada on January 30, 2025Verified PurchaseWell opened this kit up to pull cam bearings out. The wedge I needed was not only used looking but had a tear already where the wedges push against it. Someone used it and returned it I am guessing. Hopefully it works till the new bearings are in. The replacement sleeves aren’t even the same as the ones that come with the tool. It worked but I can see it failing. Then MacGyver time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked great, thanks
Verified PurchaseI never had to replace cam bearings before. But I'm trying to make a best of a situation and I have more than one motor I have to rebuild. Strangely I can't seem to find one of these to rent or borrow anywhere so I had to buy one myself. I appreciate that it was relatively affordable and easy to use. There's a little bit of a learning curve installing the bearings in the correct order but I managed it and this tool made easy work of it. Thanks..

5.0 out of 5 stars Get the Job done
Verified PurchaseIf your like me and just need it to make sure the job is done right and do it yourself. This gets the job done. It’s not built for daily use. But will get us back yard engine builders by. Thank you

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the price
Verified PurchaseDoes the job, for the price its ok. Wont work as good as more expensive brands. I found that if I put a pipe wrench on the bar and a box wrench on the other end and really cranked it down it wouldn't slip and damage bearings. That takes a toll on the rubber that is around the expanders. They give you replacement rubber for all the different sizes but for some reason it is black and thinner than the red rubber already on there. The centering cone had to be held in place against the block with one hand while using the hammer on the bar with the other hand. The one piece that needs replacement rubber is the on the piece you tighten with a wrench. Mine is already split after replacing bearings in one engine and there is no replacement included. The instructions that came with it call it an "engine timing kit" but the case says cam bearing replacement tool. Language barriers I guess. I would say it does a better job of removing old bearings than installing new ones, mainly because of the danger of damage to a brand new bearing. Removing the old ones was definitely trial and error on tightness, as I did some damage, but they were going in the trash anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great
Verified PurchaseUpdate: without me asking the company sent me a replacement kit because of the defect in the first.
Takes a min to get used to how to use it, but great value for the money. Would have given 4 or 5 stars but the longer rod has a very slight bow to it that I did not notice until after I finished using it. The bow did not affect the installation I had everthing measured for straight and squareness, all checked good. Except for user error (didn't tighten the tool enough) on installing it performed superbly. Definitely recommend having 2 people makes it much easier, but not required.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cam bearing install and remover tool
Verified PurchaseFirst of all I received the tool and before I opened the included plastic case I knew something was off. A lot of the parts were loose in the box. I opened the case and it looked like it had been used the case was broken inside and rough looking. I picked up the parts and everything was there but you could tell it had been returned. The company name label was also torn loose.
I tried to use it anyway but it was to big for my engine. A waste of money. Spend a little extra and get a brand name. Even though it may look the same it probably isn't. I found out the hard way.
