This direct drive motor coupling provides a cushioned connection between the transmission and the motor shaft. It attaches to the direct-drive transmission and the motor shaft. If this part is defective it will affect the agitator in your washer because of its direct connection with the motor.

    My nearly 40 year old KitchenAid washing machine quit agitating. I’ve never had to replace a washing machine before and just a few months prior I had to replace our dryer so I didn’t really want to spring 6- 700 for a new washing machine. My wife was actually the one who dug into it at first and read that it could be the coupler. I came home from work and our washing machine was taken apart. Lol. So dug in there and got the old coupler out and it was worn out and stretched out. The pegs were wearing down. So I ordered this and right away it seemed much more heavy duty. The pegs are more rectangular rather than cylindrical so I don’t think the coupler will stretch out as easy as the old one did. So I put it in and put it all back together and sure enough it works better than it ever has… at least since we’ve had it.. it came with the house we bought six years ago. So I’m pretty confident this will last. The older washing machines seem to last longer and I’m super glad I didn’t have to buy a new one.

    Fits in my 20-something year old Kenmore 90 series washer. Didn't fix the problem - it was the clutch liner - but my old coupler was definitely worn and I'm glad I replaced it preemptively.

    Installation is easy once you get the motor off. Getting the motor clips back on is a pain though.

    If anyone is reading this -- use this part if your washer tub doesn't spin at all. If it spins sometimes, check the clutch liner. Or be cautious and replace both.
