Red for power, blue for communication, and has it's own powersupply. Solid build quality. Only downside is that it may be a bit bulky if you don't need 10 ports and are tossing it in a laptop bag. I was so impressed when I received my atolla USB 3 hub this afternoon. WOW! Light up like a Christmas tree! So I decided to order a second one right away. What a beautiful device! . . . ooopsie. . .But THEN. . . um, how to turn OFF all those lights ?!? Oh oh. . . And I just couldn't figure it out i still wanted my second hub, but was the first one working okay? Phooey. I delayed ordering my second hub for ages, UNTIL I happened to read the Question Section. And there I read that you press-and-hold (just for 2 seconds) whenever you want to turn OFF one of the lights.

So that makes it PERFECT! It arrives with every light working, so you can get quite used to the process of turning off the Christmas tree! I love my TWO atollae!

Other notes: It should be plugged in to a USB 3 slot on your computer. USB THREE, okay? Yes, it will do the job if you have just USB 2, but of course you are not using it to its intended zappitiness.

ALSO: If you have an even-faster USB-C capacity on your computer, remember this hub needs to be inserted into a USB 3 port. You could adapt it (if you have an adapter) to fit your USB-C, but again, it's a bit of a waste of that USB-C port. Look around and see if you ALSO have a USB-3 on that same computer (likely you do).

FINALLY: Heavy-duty charging and running a LOT of devices: Use the included power cable. "Yes, it works fine without the wall power" may be an assertion you'll regret. (Poor computer.) So use it the way it's intended. Basically, what it does is give you half a kerzillion nice blue USB 3 ports. And of course it doubles as a Christmas tree. Um. . but, let's just use it as a USB 3 hub, okay? Love it

I've got a high end Dell Laptop which I use a huge amount. I have several external USB hard drives attached and the receiver for the mouse also using a USB port these three items alone left me with no open USB ports. I still have a need to intermittently plug in other USB items like thumb drives. Previously I was swapping out drives which messed up my drive letters and had an impact on my automated backup schedule. This USB 3.0 Hub was just what the doctor ordered. It provides much needed additional USB ports and the great bonus of four additional high speed USB charging ports. Overall the quality is good and I am sure will last a long time, it feels a little slight in the build but not flimsy. I want to offer a suggestion for a possible product improvement for the future. The Hub sits on the desk close to my laptop with 10 ports facing up most of the time a lot of these will be open and not in use which I am feeling may make them susceptible to gathering dust, food crumbs and other such things usually around the work area, which in turn could cause eventual interference with the connection. Maybe if it were possible for some type of easy to use cover for the ports when not in use, hey, just a thought but might be overreaching. Bottom line, I think this is a good product, very useful and practical and it's great that each port has an On/Off switch that is also lit. I am pleased and think it's a decent value for the price. The litmus test I always ask, would I buy this again? and the answer is Yes.

I rarely get excited about the UX of a product, but the style and features of the Atolla 11 port USB Hub are outstanding. The highly visible LEDs which denote the functionality of the ports and the ability to disable individual ports make this a great product.

I replaced another well known brand with this product, as the prior hub had issues with my USB ports from the start and only got worse. Since I used the prior hub for my authentication keys, unplugging it 20 times to get it to recognize the keys became problematic. This product has been flawless so far, but durability is TBD.

The only issue I have with this model is the hard wired USB Cable. This made switching from the old hub to the new hub a minor pain, although the hard wired connection may be more reliable.
