We’ve been looking for one of these as a family member is handicapped and we couldn’t delay too much longer.
We had looked at many models and almost all of them were the snap together, tubular models. I’ve seen these other models in person and while they are relatively stable, I’ve never been convinced of their strength and long term viability.
Then I happened on this Kmina model with welded steel construction and threaded bolt locking screws … not the snap buttons!
I was concerned though as we have a toilet with a rather angular and the base is a longer design. I was having a hard time trying to figure out if these other tubular ones would fit my toilet. This Kmina seemed much more flexible in its design.
We received this and it’s well packed and easy to assemble. A couple of the bolts were a bit tough to initially thread in (perhaps some of the white paint was in the threads) but I got them in after a few tries.
The front of our toilet’s base is quite narrow as I said and I was concerned that the cross-tube would hit the porcelain, but the two grey bumpers can be easily moved to the middle and protect against hitting the bowl.
Also, I really like the arm rests and how they can be positioned forward or back and how they lock in position. Nicely designed!
As well, with the single pedestal design, our family member can easily move around the toilet without catching on a corner tube/foot that would be present on other designs.
Once the Kmina frame is positioned and the side screws are tightened in place, the unit is VERY sturdy and it gives a good feeling of confidence.
I know I’m sounding like an advertisement but when a loved-one’s safety is at stake, its pretty important!
So … yes, it’s more expensive than the majority of other units here on 鶹 but it’s an impressive unit that is very well finished, very sturdy and secure, and it gives a feeling of security when using it. An impressive unit!
