The thermostat Works in Temperatures Between 210°F and 260°F. And the heating element will cut out at 260 degrees and cycle back on once the internal temperature drops by 50 degrees.

DC96-00887A Dryer Thermal Fuse
Thermal fuse with bracket is a Limit Switch Working at 320°F, located on the element housing. Thermal cut-off fuse DC96-00887A shuts off the heating element when the dryer overheats. This Works Like a Fuse.

DC47-00016A Dryer Thermal Fuse
The thermal fuse blows to cut off power to the dryer if the dryer overheats. If the thermal fuse has blown, the dryer won't start. The thermal fuse cannot be reset--if the fuse has blown, it must be replaced.
