As of recently my Instant Pot of less than one year had it's pressure release valve button break off so i decided to call the fine people of Asurion to assist with my situation. I explained the situation to them about the instant pot and how the broken valve switch would fall under their first statement: "Covers failures due to power surge and other mechanical and electrical breakdowns". Their customer service representative told me that I should instead contact the manufacturer to have my problem taken care of as I should also be covered under the manufacturer 1 year warranty. It was explained to me multiple times that the difference between Asurion and the Manufacturer coverage was that their coverage protected the product from power surges, everything else was the same. Despite this the representative still told me that they couldn't cover my product even though it clearly states that they do and that the best thing to do would be to still call the manufacturer. At the end of all our discussion, the representative refused to take my case because the manufacturer warranty would still cover my product.
Effectively, despite having a coverage for 2 years since the date or purchase, they will not assist you and will push you to using the manufacturer warranty before coming to them. What is the point of having a 2 year warranty that other than the Power Surge protection is what the manufacturer will also cover? Funny enough the man explained to me over the phone that by their definition of mechanical problems, dropping it would be covered.
TL;DR: Despite having a 2 year warranty coverage, it is actually more like a 1 year coverage since the first year they don't want to deal with you and will push you towards the manufacturer. Man who spoke to me was adamant on saying that they covered power surges but refused to help me with my mechanical issue even though it is part of their first statement. Would not recommend this service to anyone.
I can't download it and it's only as good as the day that I need it--it's a 2 year thing--hard to rate at this point. So far, it has been a bit frustrationg
We needed a new Kettle because our existing 10 yr old Cuisinart was starting to leak. Our intention was to replace it but the warning and reviews confirming leakage developing after purchase, plus the hassle of sending the defective kettle back to the USA at owner's cost, we decided to review alternative models! After surveying alternative models, we finally picked the Krup model, as it closely matched the appearance and features of our old Kettle AND we also purchased the low cost insurance. Turns out the Shipper is located not far from our Scarborough residence! We are satisfied so far with the new kettle and it's performance. However, be aware that it comes with a very short cord, which limits its location in the kitchen! However we resolved the problem by buying a 1 foot 3-pin extension cord from 鶹, which arrived in 3 days. Problem safely resolved!
I buy these plans when I purchase items that offer them because they give me piece of mind for the product the cover, so they are a great value for the money they cost. The only reason for the overall low rating is that I do not like the fact that the description of the product type is vague in terns of product type and DO NOT include the actual name of the product that you purchase the insurance for. If I ever needed to use it, their is no way to search on my email or my computer for the right policy I purchased for the item for, I would have to guess when I bought the product and match it up with the correct policy. It would be much easier if they named the actual name and model number of the product they cover. This is the description they send out. -- Asurion 2 Year Kitchen Protection Plan ($75 - $99.99)-- I just got this one where I purchased a number of kitchen items, so good luck to me if I need to make a claim.
