I’m with the latter camp! This looks delightful, and I included pics of my hand holding it so you can determine size for yourself. It’s sturdy plastic and the hinge on the back is long and thick (see picture of chest in hand, with the elastic band). The hinge was probably the most important part. There is a variety of little treasures, coins and gems and yes, all plastic. But my kid is 5 and it’s a toy! Currently he pretends his crystal-tone Strictly Briks as gems in a bank robber game lol. He’ll love this.

I saw a lot of reviews saying it cost too much for being made of plastic. I expected it to be flimsy but it's a sturdy little plastic treasure box, exactly how it looks in the photo. The little plastic gems it comes with are FANTASTIC, as well as the gold coins and other pirate treasures. The front has a little hole at the latch and our tiny luggage lock fits in it perfectly - our son has a blast locking up the treasure box. Honestly it's a great little box full of gems and coins, perfect for any kids pirate themed birthday or treasure hunting.
